Eeeeewwwwww - grosssss.

Rough weekend - got through Fri & Sat. night with the help of Afrin to clear congestion - been messing with the HH, was on two, went to three, four was too much.

Last night - don't want to do the Afrin again, tried the little "Neti pot" saline rinse - that was interesting, couldn't really get it going, then ended up swallowing half the mix - think I figured it out.

Anyway, slept ok for two hours, then up with irritated sinus - kept feeling like I needed to sneeze, couldn't get right, two hours trying to get back to sleep, Facehugger air was really annoying, gave up and STILL struggled to go to sleep without the machine, probably got about 4 hrs sleep total - damn.

Sinus is STILL bugging me, some congestion but really irritated when breathing.

The teapot is funny though.

For Sinus and allergies I use my Neti bottle twice a day. Once in the morning and in the evening before bed.

The trick to this is tilt your head to one side. breath through your mouth only. The water should got up one side and come out on the other side. If your sinuses are too swollen you may have to let the water fill the sinuses and then let it run back out the same side. Make sure the water is warm...close to body temp. Cold water really hurts.

I have on really bad days used two pots of water. One for each side. You would be amazed at the amount of goop that can be up in your sinuses.

I also use Flonase spray and Claritin for allergies.

I was hooked on nose spray many years ago and believe me It was hell getting off of it. The only way to do it is cold turkey. It's going to tough but you can do it.

After using the netti pot try putting a small amount of AYR nasal gel in each nostril. It sure has helped me.

Good luck!

I love my nettie pot now but the title of this thread makes me giggle. It does sound very strange till you get used to it.

I saw the neti pot on Dr Oz. I was horrified. Many people swear by it but for me it is a no. I used to have spring allergies that drove me crazy. Since starting c-pap therapy those have all cleared up. I am finding not just my sleeping is improving from the use of c-pap but other things as well. Arthritis pain which was very painful during the extreme cold and the humid season has disappered. I moved away from the cold. The first year here the humidity caused pain so bad walking was difficult. That has cleared up too. Coincidence? I don't think so.

A couple of tricks I learned is 1) get the Netti Pot BOTTLE as it just seemed to work better for me, and instead of trying to control the mess, I just use it in the shower when I'm in there first thing in the morning. But you're right: its amazing how much stuff a body intercepts and stores up there ! No wonder your sinuses get unhappy.
