I have been a cpap user coming up on 4 years. I got a Resmed S9 in Oct 2010 because I heard it eliminates rainout with the use of heated tubing. (And it does !) But I have been having sinus issues/head colds ever since. The most recent is a sinus infection. I suspect it has something to do with the high humidity settings that are available with this machine without the problematic rainout issue. Has anyone had sinus issues from this machine ? Has anybody had a problem getting the settings right?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Kindly, Daseylover
Resmed S9 Problem
Re: Resmed S9 Problem
I have no experience with the S9 or a heated hose; but your analysis sounds probable. Have you tried backing off the humidity? Like to zero for a couple of nights to see if the congestion lessens?
I have used humidification in the winter when the house is heated (and dry). Never had a rainout problem...but I hang my hose over the headboard whether I humidify or not.

I'm just the opposite. I used the s9 auto without the climateline hose for the first 3 months of use. When I started using the climateline hose all of my sinus problems went away.
Have you tried the s9 using the slimline hose or just a regular cpap hose? Winter is almost over and spring is on the way.

I am glad for you...that was what I was hoping for. Do you select a temperature and humidity level ? What are your settings ? Thankskempo wrote:I'm just the opposite. When using the climateline I set the temperature on 78 degrees. The climateline will deliver 80% humidity at what ever temperature you set it at. When warmer weather arrives I might go back to using the slimline hose in passover (off- no heat). It's very humid in the spring and summertime where I live.

I use the S9 without heated hose. Keep the humidity set at 4 all yr round. Haven't had any problems without rainout or sinus infections.

There is actually an option through the clinician menu to be allow you to set heat and humidity separately from the main menu.kempo wrote:When using the climateline I set the temperature on 78 degrees.
