Using CPAP while camping?

Post by LucyJordan » Sat Feb 12, 2011 8:04 pm

I have a ResMED S9 with humidifier. We go camping quite often and sometimes we have no power for a few days at a time. I know I can get a battery pack but I have no idea how this works, how long I can go without power and how it would recharge. Does anyone have any experience with this and can give me some pointers and information? Do I have to stick to a ResMed product or are there some generic battery packs out there?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There have been MANY discussions on this. Try searching on "battery power"...

Go up to the Search line and put in the word "camping".......there will be 111 pages of links returned with that word. The most current ones contain discussions relative to the newer machines like the S9.

Cpap.com told me that Resmed has no battery or cord for that unit. But is working on it.I checked at least 1 week ago.

Be sure to apply for your Smokey The Bear, XPAP electric discount, where you camp out. Your power cost can be shared by your fellow campers. Maybe you could get a more power friendly used XPAP, and devote it to camping, In case of smells from a campfire enter your machine your main machine won't be affected, plus a backup is always handy. jim

Hi Lucy,

I would checkout The Battery Geeks. They seem to have the best portable power solutions for CPAP. I was referred to them by my sleep doctor and they hooked me up with a solution that has turned out to be pretty sweet for my camping adventures. Their site is at http://www.batterygeek.net/cpap

Good luck!
