How do I adjust my machine/get readings?

Post by ladyhen » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:33 pm

I just got my APAP yesterday and had an overall good first night. I did notice a couple of times, feeling like I was not getting enough air - when I first started the machine and after getting back in bed after going to the bathroom. The ramp feature is activated. How do I turn it off?

Also, is there a way to get more detailed info than the AHI?

Got my S9 auto set yesterday and things did not go well. Don't know how to get any info. How did you get AHI info? I can't seem to even get that.Hope some one helps us. Did not even get a manual with the machine. Just a little Welcome book. Almost useless.

If you go to http://www.sleepnation.tv/ , scroll down to episode 8 and watch. It explains everything you need to know.

Best Regards

You are an absolute lifesaver!!! That is what I needed. Had no idea how to change the settings or what was what. Don't know to much about this SIM card. I guess there is software somewhere for a price. You would think that 1200.00 would get you the software or at least the manual. Again thanks so so much

Yep, it can be found for a very reasonable price.
Do a forum search here for member Uncle Bob. Look at one of his posts and in his signature you might just find what you are looking for. Can't beat the price.

I was looking under a different user name!

Thanks a bunch!!

I was able to get into the detailed menu and see that my pressure was 11.8 (autoset) and that I had .7 central apneas (I still have no idea what that means... LOL) Leakage was 1.4ml. What is normal?

Time to start reading up on all the jargon that comes with the reports. Lots to learn.

Scroll down some of Rested Gal's links to threads that offer lots of information.

ResMed machines already subtract the intentional leak or vent rate for the mask so any leak reported is excess leak.
There is no real "normal". Only a leak that is acceptable in terms that the machine can compensate for it.
Generally less leak is better. So many people strive for as close to 0.0 as possible. These are averages and can be skewed a bit if a normally minimal leak average gets messed up because of a large leak for short period of time.
A leak of 1.4 L/min should be well within the machines ability to compensate for but most here will tell you to try to get it below 1... This is where the software can help more than looking at the numbers on the machine.
You can see where the leak goes and how much during the time the machine is in use. Much better way to see if the leak is a potential problem.
