Guys, I thought I was pretty computer savvy, but apparently not.
I downloaded this Encore Pro 1.8, and installed it, and can't get it to work. I know nothing about SQL servers or anything like that. It keeps me giving me an error message saying it can't connect to the specified database. The database server name is listed as "USER-PC\ENCOREPROEX". I'm running Vista on my PC.
Somebody please help getting this to work. I really can't afford the $100 viewer version. Any and all help appreciated, even if you have to PM me.
thanks
Some help here please with Encore Pro 1.8 ???

Your profile is showing that you have a Philips Respironics System One REMstar Plus CPAP machine. Any PR or Respironics machine with "Plus" in its name is not going to give you any useful data at all. Not from the window of the machine or from the Encore software. All your machine is recording is "hours of use" (compliance) so the software won't do you any good data-wise even if you get the software up and running.
The other problem you'd have is that I think (might be wrong) the Philips Respironics System One machines use Encore Pro 2. I don't think Encore Pro 1.x will work with any of the PR1 models. You'd need Encore Pro 2.x or Encore Viewer 2.
All that said, if you had a machine that could give AHI and leak data (the "Plus" can't) and had the correct version of Encore Pro ("version 2" for PR System One machines) and were getting a "Can't connect to database" message, that usually means you don't have the SQL server running in your computer. Encore Viewer works without "SQL" but Encore Pro requires SQL to be running.
If there's any chance you can get your equipment provider to swap the "Plus" you have now for the "Pro" model... then software would be useful to have. But needs to be version 2 of Encore Pro or Encore Viewer, for it to work with a PR1 machine.
My list of machines that record "full data" (AHI and leak info) and those that don't -- updated January 2011.
You'll want a machine that can record leak and AHI info. The ones in blue do that; the ones in red do not:

Re: Some help here please with Encore Pro 1.8 ???
I guess I have the wrong machine listed then in my profile. Mine does show AHI/Leak/90% pressure, etc readings in the display. Even if I get the update Encore Pro 2.0, what address do I have to have listed for the database server. I've tried turning SQL server on/off with the 1.8 version I have installed now, and it never works. I had a similiar server address problem on my XP machine that I tried to install 2.0 on. No clue here what to do ? Somebody ? Anybody ?
Re: Some help here please with Encore Pro 1.8 ???
I installed Encore pro 2.4.12.2 recently on my Vista PC (32bit). It came with the Server thing. I didn't have any problems with the install once I figured out the password change and a mess I made of my own doing.
While I can use my older M series machine with the new software I think with your newer machine you must use 2.0 or higher.
Maybe try a different version?

I don't know that EncorePro is any too smart anyway. I have a PR S1 BPAP Auto and EncorePro 2.2.14.0 and every now and then when first opening EP2 I will get that same Error Message saying it can't connect to the database. I just wait for the message to finish loading and the OK "button" and just click on the OK button. EP2 closes. I re-start it and it always opens just fine on the second opening.
And - FAIR WARNING - EP2 is SLOWER THAN MOLASSES IN JANUARY! Be patient, give it plenty of time to load AND to respond to your requests.
And - LOTS of people have had major headaches installing EP2 on Vista - 32 bit and 64 bit differences. I don't know diddley-squat about that issue.
