Please mark your calendars now for my next Ask Dr. Park Teleseminar on February 8th, at 8 PM Eastern. This month, I’ll be answering the top 10 questions I get asked about obstructive sleep apnea. Of course, I’ll also leave plenty of time for me to answer your other questions at the end of the program.

Okay... This may sound like a stupid question, but did you just post about something that happened in the past?

You say that the event you are hosting is taking place on Feb.8 at 8:00PM, which just may have been something of interest to some people here.

Unfortunately you let people know about it on Feb. 9 at 1:39AM. 5 and a half hours AFTER the event!

Probably not the best way to get people to attend.

Actually, this is more about creating a link to his website for something that already happened. More links to his website from other websites means better placement in Google searches.

I'm torn between loathing and lauding: loathing for someone who self-promotes his business for no other gain than increased search engine points, and lauding for someone who took the time to actually become a member and post on-topic about something that some of us might have been interested in seeing, had it been posted in a more timely manner. I'll stay on the fence until others weigh in.

We know there are members from Resmed and Respironics who lurk without actually participating too much. That seems fine. Is it okay to become a member purely to post links to your own website and seminars even if they are on topic? I mean there is lurking and not participating and then there is one-way advertising and not actively participating, purely for the benefit of the new member's business. Is that okay? I'd like to know what others think.

Dreamdiver, I did share your mixed feelings at 1st. But, I do listen to most of his teleseminars, and they are always informative. I'm grateful that he's out there, sharing his knowledge.

Here's the link to his slides for last night's talks:

Katie,

Thanks for posting the link. There were two acronyms I hadn't run into before: IFL and MVA. Any idea what either of them stands for?

Katie,

Thanks for the link. I really like Dr. Park coming on the forum and making us aware of these webinars, which are always worth watching. We're all here primarily to learn. Well, except for our resident Troll.

Usually Dr. Park's webinars are announced in time for us to see them live, however the link you provided makes that unnecessary.

Keep smiling, Katie. You do it so well.

Can someone who listened to the teleseminar explain this slide:
Can CPAP convert OSA to UARS?
– CPAP controls apneas, hypopneas, snoring
– But NOT RERAs, IFL
– Spontaneous arousals?
– Can have OSA and UARS
– Most common reason for persistent fatigue despite optimal CPAP use
Did he say that CPAP can convert OSA to UARS? And why is he saying that CPAP does not control RERAs or FLs? In theory if you crank the pressure up enough, you should be able to eliminate FLs, no?

Thanks for the link - and everyone else, thanks for the feedback.

Dropbox is awesome too.

Upon reflection, it is better to learn something new when you can.

Whats his medical background training? If its not pulmonary specialist, his opinion on OSA means jack diddly. If its Neurology, Id listen to him about RLS/PLMD. Neither of these, he needs to go back to school if he wants to play sleep medicine doctor.

And psychiatrists make the WORST sleep medicine doctors btw. You expect a psychiatrist who decides to cash in on sleep medicine to be competent with a pulmonary illness like OSA?

HAHAHAHAHAHA! psychiatrists are the biggest jokes in sleep medicine. Give me a pulmonary guy anyday of the week.

It's too bad that Dr. Park's presentation wasn't posted timely.......the man is certainly a world reknown expert in the field.

He's an ENT, with extensive experience in treating sleep apnea patients. I listened to his teleseminar last night, and have purchased his book, "Sleep Interrupted," which I'm finding very informative. I'm a medical librarian so am careful about the credentials of those I choose to treat and educate me.
