Trouble with username and password for encore pro

Post by detcord » Tue Feb 08, 2011 7:49 pm

I have a copy of Encore pro I somehow "acquired" It worked beautifully for me for a while. I didn't log on for a couple of weeks, and now it will not accept the user name and password it used. Is there any way to reset the user name and password? Thanks, Kevin

Try using

EncoreAdmin
password2

see if it will let you in that way. Or try password1 again using EncoreAdmin user name and then password2. I couldn't get it to take password1 but I got it to take password2 as a change and it opened.

There is a setting within the company settings that limits the time a password for a user is valid. Default may be 90 days, can't remember, might be shorter. Can be altered to max 365 days

Tried that, but still won't work. Now shows as account has been locked. Don't know.

So sorry, it is a PITA software. I didn't read the readme text thing first and ended up uninstalling. That created a whole new set of worms because the setup files kept telling me that I already had it installed.. SO... had to remove those setup files and go get a whole new download. THEN it still told me I had still had a running version. So I ended up doing a custom install to get it to install again. It doesn't uninstall cleanly.

I just got it the other night so I don't know much about any other ins and outs. Hopefully someone else will come along with some other ideas.

I left it as EncoreAdmin and just changed the password, I didn't make any other users. So sorry my idea didn't help.

Password is case sensitive, I just remembered that.
password1, no capital P same with password2

i would certainly check the user name, and password make sure caps are done properly.

I highly doubt there is any back door into the software.

Don't know about that...

Does anyone here have SQL Server Management Studio running on their machine? If so, could you post the encoded password from the Users table along with the clear text version? I locked myself out as well and with any luck, the programmers used a machine independent algorithm to encode the passwords.

I found this, unfortunately we don't have access to product support.... gotta be a back door somewhere.

You must have Administrator rights to perform this task.

Reset Admin Account
The Reset Admin Account utility allows Administrators to reset their passwords. The utility is installed with EncorePro 2.

To use the utility:

Click the Start button > All Programs > Respironics > EncorePro 2 > Utilities > Reset Admin Account.

The Reset Admin Account window is displayed.

Contact Product Support and pass along the string of characters displayed in the Key field.

Enter the string of characters provided by Product Support into the Unlock Code field and click on Unlock.

Enter a New Password in the spaces provided and click on Reset.

The Admin account is now reset. Log in to EncorePro 2 using "EncoreAdmin" as the username and the new password entered in Step 4 above.

Note: If 3 attempts fail to unlock the account, the utility automatically locks itself out for 30 minutes.

Just as I thought... Changing the admin password requires one line of code!
