No wonder I can't go to sleep
No wonder I can't go to sleep
Last night I couldn't go to sleep.
Then I realized I have on
1. My mouthguard
2. A chin strap
3. A mask with headgear
4. I have a cracked rib, so I have it wrapped all the way
around me. And it's sort of tight.
5. A roll pillow between my legs to help with my back and I hate my knees touching they feel so bony.
6. A small pillow to hick up one boob so it doesn't touch
my craked rib
7. And a bar of soap at the bottom of the bed for leg cramps (believe it or not this works)
Now I wonder why on earth am I laying here for so long and not just going to sleep.

Wow, that's a lot to have to to ignore or live with at night. How do you cope with all of that? Do you do aroma therapy or one of those alarm clocks that plays different sounds like rain, ocean waves, birds singing? I do both, and some Ambien on occasion too. Sometimes the totality of it all seems just too much to deal with. Sometimes I think back to my teenage years or early 20's when I LOVED sleeep and could sleep anywhere, forever. Not get out of bed all day even. What ever happened to those days LOL?

Re: No wonder I can't go to sleep
How does the soap trick work? I'm wondering if it's something I could try for my back......

LOL. Your humor is inspiring. You're someone I'd love to have a Martini with-- early in the evening so as not to interfere with the "natural" process of sleep. Becoming who we are instead of being who we were can be quite the trick. Gotta love you can still laugh. cheers, MoonBear

Re: No wonder I can't go to sleep
Jazzer4, couldn't agree more. I concur with everything except I don't have a cracked rib (maybe after all this laughing) or boob problem, or bony legs. Can't wait to try the soap!

Re: No wonder I can't go to sleep
I'm a very good ignorer. Yes, I use aroma therapy and I also have a sound machine. I have "it all". The Ambien too, but don't use that much. How do I cope? What's my choice None of it means I'am on my death bed, just small stuff compared to that. We all know anything is possible, I'm just happy to be here.islandboy5150 wrote:Wow, that's a lot to have to to ignore or live with at night. How do you cope with all of that? Not sure what it does for the back, but it sure helps with my legs. I use Irish Spring as that's what I was told works best. Don't shave it or anything. Just put the bar under the botton sheet.islandboy5150 wrote:How does the soap trick work? I'm wondering if it's something I could try for my back......
I also pre-heat my bed at night with a heating pad at the bottom where my feet go. I have cold feet!! Once I melted the bar of soap. What a mess.

Got the extention cord rolled up under the bed. I'm ready for a power failure. Peace of mind....yes definitely. Setting all that up was hard and exspensive but so worth it mentally.
I would love to have that Martini with you. We could laugh the night away.MoonBear wrote:LOL. Your humor is inspiring. Re: No wonder I can't go to sleep
That is a lot of gear, for sure! I have never heard of the soap thing! Interesting. When I was in college I worked retail and my boss would get really nasty leg cramps at night. What worked for her was covering her legs in muscle cream and then wrapping them in saran wrap.
