That's funny. I have sneezed with my mask on and it NEVER caused my filter to blow out of my machine. Sometimes I think that all machines, including computers, can have a mind of their own. I once had a blender just turn itself on.

Re: Filter Blowout!??
I just aquired a Respironics System One and my filters are also popping out.
I called respironics support and spoke to a person named Todd who said they are receiving reports of this issue and do not know why it is happening.
Has anyone come up with any other information?
Thx

put a rubber band around the machine and have the RB cross over the filter-itsa simple fix--FA
Re: Filter Blowout!??
On the same mornings the filters blew out I also experinced heavy wheezing when waking up. I do not know if it is related, but on the nights I was breathing good the filters had stayed in place; the two times I woke up wheezing I found the filters out approx 4 feet away from the machine. My filters fit tight, so I don't know why this is happening.
Do you know of anyone who had the filters blowing out also had any air preassure or humidification issues?
Thank you.

Re: Filter Blowout!??
At the time I had a PRS1 and the filters just fit into place. There was not a cover or anything except good fit to hold them in place. A good cough would fire them across several feet of space. I travel a lot and it was disconcerting to arrive at destination or even back home without filters because they remained under a nightstand on a floor somewhere. No matter how you trimmed or stuffed in place, they would fly out with any back pressure at all. As mentioned elsewhere, the fix was easy. I had to retrieve mine so often, I believed I could detect a change in the subtle noises the machine made without the filters. Good luck with this, initially it drove me crazy for what might be pulled in to that black hole in the back of the machine.

Ben, As Hawthorne pointed out earlier here, the tab on the white Respironics filter might be helping it to pop out if not firmly creased or cut off.
Thanks to all who posted here. It's somehow comforting to know that I'm not the only one with a poltergeist in my bedroom.
