quattro leaks

Post by kcarlee » Mon Jan 10, 2011 4:05 pm

I have been using an activa nasal mask for several months and now my TMJ is bothering me bad. Probably from keeping my mouth closed, when I was snoring with my mouth open in the past it went away. I've started using the quattro full face and am having leaks along with terrible cotton mouth that wakes me up. What to do?

First, check out "Taming the Mirage Quattro" in my signature line.

Second, even in a full face mask, opening your mouth CAN lead to leaks. Some people use chin straps and tape even with a FF mask. I would suggest you try other FF masks--perhaps there is one that will allow you to open your mouth without leaks.

Another option is a mask that covers your entire face (I think it's called the "Fit Life). People report that the fit is tricky because of how it fits against your forehead, but that mask will not dislodge if you open your mouth.

I got a Quattro the other day, after not being able to use my Swift FX due to congestion. I just wanted to say that I followed the "taming" procedure mentioned above and it worked great for me! I had a zero AHI last night! Thanks!

I find that I have to wash it everyday, even baby wipes wont work, or the air forces its way under the seal by the middle of the night. But if its good and clean it stays sealed unless I roll over with my face smashed into the pillow, Now if I could just not wake up with the burning sensation where the strap is rubbing on my neck all-night I would be a very happy camper. I do find it hard to reseal If I need to yawn prior to falling asleep. I have to unhook it and let it reinflate, then push it back down or it gets a crease in the flap.
