I am only one person (at least last I knew) and I've been and still am (at least up to the S8s) an avid Resmed fan. HOWEVER, as much as it pains me to admit to a Resmed "failing" I can NOT sleep w/the abrupt pressure transitions from IPAP to EPAP w/the VPAP Auto or the VPAP S in spontaneous (straight bi-level) mode. Fortunately w/the VPAP Auto I can just set the Pressure Support the exact distance between IPAP and EPAP (i.e. IPAP 17, EPAP 13, PS 4) in auto mode and the pressure transitions are SMOOTH, EASY and comfortable.

I had no such problem w/the Respironics pre-M Series BPAP Auto nor w/the new PR SystemOne BPAP Auto. Both Respironics devices provided smooth pressure transitions and easy comfortable breathing in both spontaneous and auto modes.

It should be noted that the cited benchtop test did not include a snore signal. Part of the DeVilbiss AutoAdjust Algorithm is based on snore. We actually provided a "snore box" to the individuals to reconduct the benchtop testing. If you would like to read about the results and the DeVilbiss Healthcare AutoAdjust Algorithm, please visit http://www.devilbisshealthcare.com/file ... T-2089.pdf

Like Slinky, I, too am a ResMed fan. Or, at least I'm very pleased with my S9 Autoset. However I needed another machine to be kept at my wife's place near Seattle where I spend about 1 week/month. And I don't like lugging the S9 through TSA and on planes. Sooner or later it would be damaged, stolen by some thief thinking it was a laptop, or I'd leave it on the metal detector conveyor and walk off, as I did this past weekend.

So I just purchased an Intellipap from our host's website. Looking at its reasonable price and features, especially with the apparently recent incorporation of SmartFlex, I really don't see much difference between the S9 and the Intellipap. I don't need the software for the secondary machine, so that's not really a problem for me.

Looking forward to my next trip North where I'll unbox my new Intellipap and strap that sucker on!
