Thanks for the tips Hawthorne.

I still don't have my prescription yet. I'm going to have to buy a CPAP locally and then if it continues to be a problem I'll just buy the APAP blower (won't need the humidifier as I'll already have one). I'm interested in the PR, it seems pretty durable compared to the Resmed and I like the one I have on loan.

The local dealer has provided a lot of support and I'm not going to turn around and buy the whole thing online, it just wouldn't be fair. However, if I really need an APAP she will only sell it to me privately and I can't afford her price, as its the entire thing and way too pricey, so I'll get it here. I plan to buy a back up mask here too, probably the Mojo. I'll compare her prices to the ones here for things like hoses, etc.

Yes, buying the first machine locally is a good idea in Ontario. It's what I did. I did not qualify for an APAP but did use the ADP and my extended health covered the rest for the machine, humidifier, mask and hose.

It was several years later- just over 5 years later - (I've been on cpap for 8+ years) that I ordered an auto online at my expense and then bought a backup auto on cpapauction.com since I do better with a narrow auto range of pressure. I now get masks and mask parts online as well because they are cheaper that way.

I still have the old straight cpap too. I have always used Respironics machines and they give me very good therapy.

Just make sure that you do get a copy of your prescription so that you can order online in the future if you want to.
