I have had three machines and each one had a problem for some reason and were replaced in warranty. In March of last year, the replacement machine was a Respironics PR System with c-flex(NOT AUTO). Since I got that machine the ramp doesn't work and when I looked at the info on the readout, it says "C-Flex" is not enabled? Why would the c-flex be disabled and what does this mean? I have called the provider numerous times about this machine as I just can't sleep with it. I even requested a new sleep study from my doctor and when I went there, the technician said that he didn't know how to use the new machine and it wasn't even included in the study.
The provider wants to have the machine repaired at my expense. The paperwork with the machine says that it has a warranty from the day it was put into service, but the provider says that the warranty dates back to the time I got the first machine. In other words, the day I got the new machine, the ramp didn't work and the provider just says--TOO BAD.
Is it possible for the provider to disable the ramp-up as well as the c-flex?
I am reluctant to let the provider take it to repairbecasuse i have had nothing but bad experiences with them.
I seem unable to get answers from the doctor or the provider. Can anyone help?

Re: C-Flex is disabled on my machine
I do not have that machine, but the older M Series, and yes, the C flex can be disabled from the clinical menu. Also the ramp could be set to 0 or maybe "off"--can't remember which this early in the morning, so I am sure there is something similiar for your machine.
Re: C-Flex is disabled on my machine
I have a PR System One Auto, but I believe they work basically the same as far as accessing the clinician menu. That is where you will need to go to set up the C-Flex, and also adjust the ramp time/pressure if you want to. To access the clinician's menu, turn the dial until you get to set-up. Then press and hold the ramp button and the round button until it beeps (3-5 seconds, I think). That will put you in the clinician's menu. Rotate the round button to setup, press the button--this will bring up the list of things you can change. Scroll down to cflex and adjust how you would like (a greater number means a greater decrease in pressure with exhalation). Then scroll to ramp, and see if it is on or off. You can adjust the time for the ramp, as well as what pressure it starts at. Adjust them to your liking. Then scroll to "back", press that to go back to the main clinician's menu, then press exit (or back, I can't remember) in the upper left corner of the four options. You will then be back to your regular screen.
C-flex and ramp are both for personal comfort, so adjust them until you find what feels most comfortable for you.

if it doesn't give you the options that jbn3boys has mentioned... if we could get the exact model number it might help.

Don't forget to press the large round button once when you select a setting, otherwise it doesn't change.jbn3boys wrote:Then scroll to ramp, and see if it is on or off.
Its a good idea to write down what the settings are before you change them.
