Any members living in Toronto, Ontario?

Post by SUNSHINE06 » Sun Dec 11, 2005 9:02 pm

Hello,

Anybody here from Toronto? Need to talk about cpap providers here.
Two weeks ago I bought a Fisher&Paykel cpap with humidifier from The Oxygen Specialists and have a demo FF mask F*P.

This is not working out very well for me at all.
I had tried the nasal mask at the vendors, but tore it off my face after a full 2 seconds.

How do you know if you are a mouth breather?

I feel claustophobic with the ff mask, plus it is not comfortable at all.

The dry mouth is a real pain.

Can't fall asleep and when I do, I awaken every 1.5 hrs?
Finally at 4:00 I have to get up to watch tv because I am fully awake and can't return to sleep?

Getting very frustrated and depressed about losing sleep.
I am going back on Tuesday to the vendor for trying the nasal c-flex. Hope that works better. Don't know if Apap would be better?

Any help, comments, encouragement?

Thanks in advance.

Hi SUNSHINE06,

I am just on CPAP for 4 months and never use FF mask. My doctor prescribed me a FF mask due to my allergy condition; however, I tried the Breeze nasal pillow instead. It is a much better interface compared to the cheap Comfort Classice that come with my CPAP. Keep in mind that everyone is difference and I am one of the lucky people who able fit Breeze easily. I would recommand you to try it out with different size of the pillow.

I am a mouth breather... I have to tape my mouth to avoid air leaking. Several nights when my tape got off, I have dry mouth that causes some pain. I though there should be no dry mouth when using FF mask unless there are some major air leak.

Don't give up the CPAP easily. Even it may take some time to find the right mask, you will find it worth for the effort once you feel the CPAP effect. Good luck.
