UGH! Forgot what a night without CPAP was like

Post by wordgirl57 » Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:56 am

Boy, if I ever needed a reality check that my CPAP therapy is worth the trouble it sometimes seems like, I got one last night. One of the pins on the part of the power supply that plugs into the back of my machine broke off yesterday, and although my husband tried to jerry-rig it to work for me, it kept shutting down so I had to sleep without. What a horrible night! I tried to sleep the first part sitting up and got roughly an hour of sleep, then just had to lay down for comfort's sake and got almost no sleep, waking myself up with my snoring and gasping. I placed an order for a new power supply with CPAP.com at around 2 a.m., but of course there's no way I'm going to get that till at least Monday or Tuesday. So I'm praying that, since it's Christmas Eve, my local DME is open today and they have a power supply in stock I can get. The idea of three more nights like this just horrifies me, because I feel like total crap as I'm typing this.

Breaking through my crabbiness for a moment, I hope everyone on the forum has a wonderful holiday weekend, with lots of restful sleep!

Good luck - you might want to consider getting a backup unit. Having been on cpap for almost one year now, I can't imagine not sleeping without it. Thus I bought both a backup unit as well as backup power unit in case power does go out for a day.

Happy Holidays!
