Which pulse oximeter to buy

Post by islandboy5150 » Wed Dec 22, 2010 5:54 pm

Would like to buy a meter to monitor my o2 levels at night but I have no idea what I should look for or which to stay away from. Any recommendations on brands/models?

I second that one.. it is a nice little model. It is being phased out, however, for the newer H model. Good prices here: http://www.pulseoxstore.com/Downloadable-Pulse-Ox.html

Here's the one I use.....and it comes with good reporting software.

I've never been sorry I bought it.......and neither have the people to whom I've loaned it.

Thanks for the links! There were so many to choose from. I was happy to find they are downloadable and come with free software to run reports on your computer, too. I went with the CMS50F, a wristband oximeter because I hope it will be less prone to coming off while I'm asleep, even though it uses a finger probe that connects to the wrist band. Hoping I might be able to tape the probe onto my finger if it wont stay on. Might try using it during the day too, been finding myself not breathing while I'm awake and getting a little dizzy. Wondering if O2 has been a problem over the last two or three years, because I am also having trouble going down stairs because I cant gauge how far the next step is down, unless I can see my foot going down on it, then I have more confidence. If I don't see my feet, but do see the step, I still feel uncomfortable and uneasy because I can't judge how tall I am or how far down the step is. I feel like I'm going to mis-step and fall. Does that make any sense? Thanks for the info!

So this might not be the right place to post a dumb question & be slightly off topic... but...

What is this useful for?

I mean it's a gadget. And I'm a nerd.

I'm curious if it has use beyond what I want it for, already.. which is fiddling with numbers and whatnots to make nifty graphs and spreadsheets.

Any comments or comparisons on the CMS50- D, E or H?
I think I'll get one to loan to all the people I think have a sleep disorder.

Ohammersmith, Without adequate oxygen levels your body undergoes damage.

The pulse oximeter gives you data telling you what your oxygen levels are. With this information you can also make sure your obstructions to breathing have been eliminated.
