No, none of mine have shown up as centrals. That's why this is a tricky subject. There are so many medical conditions represented here that it's hard to compare experiences at this level.KimberlyM wrote:Were a lot of yours centrals also?Sillyme wrote:My AHI didn't get below 10 until I went to APAP. Sleep lab said CPAP 12 but I got an S9 and decided to experiment. I set it to 5/14, slept thru the night like a baby and had the lowest AHI's ever - between 1.5 and 3.0. My 95% pressure has been anywhere from 8 to 13. I tried to raise the lower number and the AHI got worse. Don't quite understand it as I haven't had time to figure out the software but I obviously have changing needs and don't do as well on a constant pressure.KimberlyM wrote:I am still having apnea events on my current titration so my doctor wants to run me on autopap to see what it reveals. For those who use the S9, do you prefer CPAP mode or Autopap mode? Once the doctor discovers the correct titration I am thinking of asking him to leave it on autopap and set the parameters around my new titration since it can fluctuate to your sleeping position. I would like to know actual users views on the pros and cons of autopap, please!

A study on CPAP versus APAP. Looks like APAP wins. Lower AHI, better compliance, more time in REM (!), better sleep efficiency.

Re: S9 users: Do you prefer Autopap or CPAP mode?
I have had xpap for 5 weeks. 10 days ago my dr changed me from cpap to apap. My cpap was set to 10. Now apap is set 8-12. My ahi scores on the s9 have been considerably higher on the apap. I am giving it til after Christmas so there is time to get a real idea. apap sounds like it would be the perfect solution but I am not sure it is working for me. I have downloaded the clinicians manual but I havent yet had a chance to study it.

You are not alone. I also have noticed that my machine AHI is lower on CPAP than on APAP.

Me too. I found that I have more central's with apap. However, I do from time to time switch over to apap mode for a week or two just so I can get an accurate 95th percentile again. Then I switch back to cpap on that 95% pressure. That's why I love having the apap. I get to use the best of both.

Some do better with a single straight pressure. Some do better with varying pressures (autotitrating.)
prefer2breathe brings out a good reason why an autopap can be a useful machine to have, even if a person ends up using CPAP mode most of the time... like having two machines in one:

Re: S9 users: Do you prefer Autopap or CPAP mode?
Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it. I have been in auto mode for a little less than a week and my AHI numbers are coming down. Last night I was down to 5 AHI an hour! I am hoping this trend continues as my energy level is going up.
