Encore Pro2/Viewer2 /Smartcard not working

Post by BefuddledByPAP » Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:24 am

Could not download the data from my encorepro smartcard (infineer reader) via EncorePro2 this morning. This message appeared instead: "A Phillips Respironics data card was not found." The red light on the front of the reader comes on when I insert the card. I think it usually flickers a bit when the card is in, and changes to green when the data is transferred. Neither happened this morning.

I tried the EncoreViewer2 as well and I was unable to select the "Download from device" button.

Worked fine yesterday and for months before that. Anybody ideas?

Thanks

Does your machine use a standard SD card, or is it a specialized card? Sometimes the cards can go bad. I know on the System One machines, you can put a standard SD card into the machine, and it will load all of the data from the machine onto the card. You can then take the card to your computer and download it.

jnb3boys,

I'm not sure what a standard SD card is. Mine is a mostly blue creditcard sized card with "encorepro," "smartcard" and "Respironics" printed on it.

If it is credit card sized, it is not a standard SD card. A standard SD card is much smaller, approx. 1 1/4 x 3/4 inches--they are often used in digital cameras.

Since that's not what you have, I hope someone else can help you.

Have you changed the location of where you plugged in the Card Reader. They used to be sensitive to where they were plugged in as to whether the driver could find it. The only other thing I can think of is to reinstall the driver and reboot and see if it can find the card reader.

Jerry,

Same usb port as always. I will dig out the driver softwear and give it a try.

Thanks

I always plug the reader in before starting the software. Which OS are you using?

I found and reinstalled the EncoreViewer software and it worked - even the EncorePro2 works again! It seems that when the computer is restarted, the Encore driver(s?) become inoperable and have to be reloaded. Does this make sense? BTW, the operating system is Vista Home Premium Edition (32-bit).

Thanks to all for your input.

GumbyCT,

I feel so ignorant sometimes ... per your advice, how do I "go to Run?" I assume once I get there, the path to Services.msc and SmartCard and Auto will be obvious. BTW, everything worked fine this morning.

Thanks again.
