Re: Free CPAP Mask Contest!
Howdy Debbie,
Are you a real CPAP user? Looking back through your posts, some are asking legit questions and others seem to be plugging various websites:
viewtopic/t57987/search.php?author_id=52319&sr=posts
If you are a real user wanting people to know about deals and offers, this is fine and sorry if I've offended. You are free to continue.
If you are plugging websites acting as a real CPAP user but are really acting for or plugging on the behalf of company X, Y or Z this is not acceptable and you should let people know who you represent.
Thanks,
Johnny

Re: Free CPAP Mask Contest!
Johnny,
How should i not be offended. I find it very strange the comment you have made and the acquisition that I'm not a real CPAP User. I have posted other websites on this forum because i thought it was an open forum to discuss our experiences. I just recently became unemployed and maybe have too much time on my hands. I'm guilty of that! But yes Sir I AM A REAL cpap USER! Other than that i guess i am not in the right place if user's would become offended about that...
Some people in this cpap world are very strange. I found coupons to resmed and emailed me and asked me to stop! All i've ever tried to do on this forum is help people out when i find deals.. I didn't realize that big brother was watching me! I thought my privacy would be protected on this site but i guess not. Who has the time to look through everything i posted. That is so strange! Is this a government site. I am so confused!!
FYI i am offended.

Here you go, next time i guess I'll just purchase my supplies from this site which i found out recently owns this forum.
I bet if i do that they won't care what i post on this forum. They seem to have good deals...
Sorry to everyone else but some people just get me going.

Re: Free CPAP Mask Contest!
Debbie,
A lot of people look a CPAPtalk as a place to promote their business. They don't want to build or support the community, or fight for improved conditions for CPAP users - they want a quick buck, see a group of users and post things that clog up discussions. There are people who are paid to post some "legit posts" and then post spam links. You can usually spot these bad actors by the following things:
1. Newly registered.
2. Few posts.
3. Most posts plug the same company.
You are newly registered with few posts. You linked to several different company's, one of which doesn't have a whois entry, so I wasn't sure if you were promoting one single company (not ok) or multiple as you shopped around (ok). I wish the world worked better, but it doesn't and so I asked. You answered and I think you are fine to carry on.
I hope you can understand why I acted this way.

Re: Free CPAP Mask Contest!
Debbie, I think you might have overreacted a bit to Johnny Goodman's polite question to you.
This part of your answer would have sufficed:
I'm sorry about the unemployment issue. That has to be stressful.
This part of your answer would have sufficed:
After all, Johnny had that possibility in mind and had already said "if" and "sorry" in his first post.debbie28 wrote:I just recently became unemployed and maybe have too much time on my hands. I'm guilty of that! But yes Sir I AM A REAL cpap USER!
And this (even after you lashed out) in his second post, where he explained (again) why he had asked you that question:JohnnyGoodman wrote:If you are a real user wanting people to know about deals and offers, this is fine and sorry if I've offended. You are free to continue.
Debbie, it's good that a real cpap user is trying to help others. I hope you'll reread Johnny's two posts and see that he's all for cpap users letting others know about good deals.JohnnyGoodman wrote:You answered and I think you are fine to carry on.

Re: Free CPAP Mask Contest!
Debbie, I can see why you would be upset by Johnny's post, but I can also see why Johnny posted as he did.
I'm on a couple of different forums where 'trolls' and snake oil salespeople are rampant, and long-time users of messageboards/forums become very defensive and protective of the place they go for support, advice, information and friendship.
I'm glad you defended yourself, because your research is valuable to those of us who don't have the time to find these great links.
Hopefully you won't have the time for much longer to do this research as you'll find a new job very, very soon.
Cheers,
xena

Old thread. Likely resurrected by spammer though I couldn't see one this time. Link is old and broken.sleepycarol wrote:Link doesn't work for me.
