i know the exact pressure you are talking about, i've had it for 2 months now. i know mine is not "stress" related and it shouldn't be sore muscles either. i don't know what it is. just know that someone understands this pain you are having. so far i have seen my pcp(monthly) and he has referred me to a pulmonologist. idk when my apt is yet though. my sleep dr is a certified pulmonologist, among other specialties, but wouldn't do any test cause "he doesn't want to practice pulmonology anymore". anyway he said he thinks i have asthma

i will let you know what mine is once i go see the pulmonologist. let me know if you figure out what yours is

pred,

Don't know if I'm having the same problem as you or not, but it's certainly similar. With CPAP/APAP I wake up most mornings with a sore spot that seems to be muscular in nature and literally runs right from a spot on my back (in back of my lung) straight through to a corresponding spot on my front (in front of my lung near the rib cage). Breathing deeply makes this sore spot hurt a bit more. By the end of the day, the pain is usually back down to "none" or "close to none", but as soon as the pressure starts to rise on the APAP, I tend to notice the sore spot returning.

The "pain" is not acute, sharp, throbbing or even intense. It's a dull, but aching feeling that that's not very noticable unless everything is quiet and there's not anything to distract me from it. On the proverbial "0--10 pain scale" where 10 represents the worst pain you can imagine, I'd say this pain is only about a 1 or 1.5 at most. It's more irritating because it hangs around all day long.

This describes a feeling I had for years. I thought it was a pinched nerve in my back or chest area. Two months ago my Doctor advised me to start taking Prevacid, once in the morning. Within two weeks the pain was gone. I would have never guessed that GERD was the problem.

If it's GERD, then it started only after I started CPAP since this is most definitely something that did not happen before I started CPAP.

Hi, Paul,

Welcome!!

Mine started well before cpap. It felt like a spear stuck in my back and coming out the front of my chest in a strait line. I know that sounds weird but I had that pain for years. It was a very uncomfortable feeling.
