I recorded my first session last night and couldn't upload the data this morning Then I went into the meter and had to turn USB to ON in the settings before I set UPLOAD to ON - did you do this?Stormynights wrote:Actually I have the CMS 50E. I figured the software was the same. I am just not smart enough to make it work. It is a shame.

I do so:
(Yes, USB is always ON.)
- connect Oximeter with USB
- start Software
- go to button 'new file/open file' and insert and filename you wont
- select COM-Port and Oximeter (was select automaticly)
- in the middle of the small windows you can find: receive data..
- go on Oximeter and select Upload - Yes
- on the display of the Oximeter you will read 'Uploding'
- in the small window on PC-software you can see moving points 'receive data...'
- wait some seconds an look at the display from Oximter, after transfering data yu will see the menu again
- thats all

To the original poster. The supplied usb cable is almost certainly a dedicated cable. When I installed the software the computer recognized the usb cable that was supplied as the moniter, the unit was not attached.

I really don't think it uses a dedicated cable; I just tried mine with a normal (but somewhat weird) 3rd party USB cable, and everything works fine...
In other news; are there any other geeky-type people here working on alternate open source software for the CMS 50F? I have a little Python script that can read some of the real time data, but haven't figured out all the "status" bits yet, or the "upload" feature. There's also a thread on the Ubuntu Forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1163395&page=2 which doesn't go into much detail, but also offers a little bit of code to read the real-time data. (If you're not the geeky type and none of this means anything, then, well, never mind, you can safely ignore it....)
I still don't understand the wrist strap; all I can guess is that some Chinese engineer guessed that the average American with sleep apnea has positively enormous wrists... and then designed the wrist strap a little longer, for the worst case! Personally, I velcro mine on about halfway up my forearm (a little less than the length of the sensor cable,to leave a little slack) and then tape it down to the underside of my arm to keep it from slipping...
