Primary for non-apnea issues and sleep doc (also a pulmonologist) who runs a sleep lab for all apnea & breathing related issues...seems to work so far.

Originally 2 1/2 years ago my sleep study was recommended by the nurse practitioner in my pr Dr. office. I only followed up withe the DME, but I was unaware of the dangers of quitting and gave up after several ill fitting masks and feeling lousy. This August at my annual with a new primary care I asked for a referral to a carefully researched neurologist/and Sleep doctor. He scheduled the sleep study, and has followed up at one month and again in December which will be 3 months. So far he has been wonderful.

Me I guess.

I haven't heard from my regular doc since she referred me for sleep studies back in August.

Neuro has seen me once, and he had no idea I was even on CPAP already.....yet he signed off on my sleep reports that indicate a need for CPAP.

I seem to be studied more than treated....

My sleep study was originally ordered by my Neurologist. I am currently being treated by the Pulmonologist who read my study. I see him again in two more months. My PCP gets results and reports.

My sleep doc. I self referred to him, he ordered the sleep tests and I follow up with him. So far have seen him four times in the past month, he keeps in touch via email, and my next appointment is in a month. I REALLY like this guy and he certainly seems to stay on top of how I'm doing.

My primary care doc referred me to my sleep doc who is also a neurologist and runs the sleep clinic. He read my tests and prescribed my equipment. I saw him in October for a two-month progress check and I will see him again in January. He's aware of cpaptalk.com, knows I have a clinician's manual for my machine, and knows I have my own software. Willing to listen and explain things. And, he's young and good-looking.

My sleep doctor is a pulmonologist. He saw me for a 1 hour consult - really took the time with me and then ordered up a sleep study. I met with his nurse practitioner after the sleep study and titration study. I use a DME that he recommended that is in my plan and so far has cost me nothing. My sleep doctor's nurse practitioner sees me every 6 months just to see how I am doing and they did provide me with the summary results of my sleep study that I asked for as well as a copy of my prescription.

It was this forum that got me through those first months with the mask - encouraging me to try new masks and help with learning how to get a "good seal" and eventually I became very comfortable with my therapy. I now know how to download reports for my husband's s9 and my s8 machine whenever I wish. I honestly think that I might have given up in the beginning if it hadn't been for my friends on the forum - so this weekend while giving Thanks, I thank all of you for your wisdom and your encouragement.

Regards to all,

Jersey Girl

Pretty much my situation also with the exception that I send the pulmonologist a print out of my statistics every six months with a note to have his office assistant call me if he would like me to make an appointment. It has been almost two years since I was in his office.

I have a primary doctor who specializes in us older folks. I have a pulmonolgist who is also a sleep doctor. I saw him twice. As soon as he realized on the second appointment I had researched the whole thing and determined to take charge he gave me the options to either monitor my own therapy or come in for sleep studies. I was told as long as I could keep my AHI below 5 and felt good I didn't need to come back.
