Driving?

Hi Pauline
If anyone has problems in staying awake whilst driving, and refuses to stop driving, or pull over when sleepiness strikes, I suggest that, at the very least, they check out -

It does work, I have checked it out myself. A soon as the head falls forward a beeping sound alerts the driver, and therefore minimizes the time the vehicle is not under control.
The Uk product is a load of garbage.
However, a sleep test, and not driving whilst sleepy; and a cpap as soon as possible if appropriate, are much better options.
Cheers

Re: Driving?
I have a friend who fell asleep A LOT at the wheel and at red lights. She finally gave up driving after she hit a parked car. Finally, a doctor told her to get a sleep study done even though she really had no other symptoms. She does suffer with OSA. She no longer falls asleep at the wheel. I wish your sister luck.macshrimp wrote:Has anyone had problems driving? My sister's case manager is blaming sleep apnea problems in driving. Does that make any sense? Re: Driving?
I drive as little as possible after dark, and sometimes catch myself nodding off during the day, or can't remember which route I took after reaching my destination. I haven't had a major falling asleep while driving incident in about two years (caught myself drifting across the line into oncoming traffic). But I also don't drive any kind of long distance alone any more. Thursday will be the first time I've traveled the six hour drive to visit my parents in two years - my daughter will do most of the driving.

Re: Driving?
Pre-CPAP, I dozed off right before bouncing off a median.
I drove halfway across the state to a professional conference with the air on full blast.
I was sick for the whole symposium, but I lived through it.
Now, with my lovely sleeping machine, life is way better--and I'm much less of a threat on the road.
--Even my temper is better.

Re: Driving?
Before CPAP I would always dose off driving. Many a time I would roll my windows down durring a snow storm while driving home from work just to try to keep from falling asleep. I havn't fell asleep once since CPAP.
