holdover effect?
holdover effect?
When packing for a recent 2 week trip I neglected to include my mask. My wife, who serves as a substitute for software, let me know that my snoring and gasping did not return until 10 days into the trip. I do believe there is a holdover effect based upon long term CPAP use, which in my case lasted about 9 days.

Re: holdover effect?
I dunno. I start snoring immediately when I fall asleep without my mask.

Re: holdover effect?
Maybe it takes time for snoring to irritate the upper airway enough to cause some swelling and then exacerbate your OSA to it's fomer glory?
What was your original AHI w/o CPAP? And do you weigh about the same now?
Were you sleeping in the same position generally for those ten days?
Did the humidifier provide some relief to your sinuses that took time to dry out?
Very curious about this.

I am inclined to agree with Chunkyfrog. This may have been when you woke your wife. When my husband falls asleep without his mask, it's only a matter of hours, sometimes minutes before the crescendo snoring begins! I poke him and remind him gently to put his mask on!

Re: holdover effect?
To answer your questions: 1. My wife is a light sleeper. She was instrumental in getting me to an MD, although it did take a year of nagging. 2. My weight has been constant. 3. My AHI was 60 before CPAP and is now 1.6. 4. I haven't used the humidifier during the summer and the hotel and motel rooms seemed very dry.
