Log or Form for Daily Machine Readings

Post by Air Force Retired » Sun Nov 14, 2010 11:30 am

I hope I am not being a pest with all my posts of late, but as a "newbie hosehead" I am just seeking information. Just last night I read a post about packing your machine for the hospital. I never gave that a thought until then. Today, I am going to show my wife how to pack my machine in case I have to go to the hospital and can't pack it myself. I am also going to contact our hospital and find out if they have CPAP machines available.

Now, on to this post subject: Does anyone have or know of any kind of log (soft or hard copy) that one could use to log their daily machine readings? I don't find any on line. If push comes to shove, I will create my own but thought maybe someone already has some.

Thanks in advance.

I found this 5 and something years ago - no idea who created it - so I don't know who to thank -- it's an Excel workbook called longtermcpaptrends --

http://ozij2005.googlepages.com/LongtermCPAPTrends.xls

It was moved to google sites from googlepages, so the dowload screen looks strange -- but it should work.

Not my data, either, by the way.

Doesn't your software do summary reports? I am unfamiliar with your software, but the SmartLink for the Intellipap offers several different types of reports, and at the end of a month, I do a summary report showing each day of the month's data. I can also select date ranges of shorter or longer than a month and do that so one could do a weekly report. What are you trying to log? If you want to track trends via graphs, you can do that with any number of web tools, but having the data in your software reports seems the best.

For the basic essentials, I have a spiral notebook (5"x7") in which I have divided columns on each page for
date, hours, AHI, fasting blood sugar and 'comment' (mask change, illness, new Lantus pen, etc.)
Doctor liked that. (new doc--I didn't want to overwhelm him first day)
When I get my Autoset, I will add a column for pressure.
I have the software, but I don't do that every day. I'm not retired yet, folks.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I do believe my software will give me reports that cover pretty much everything my machine records. I would like to have a "quick and dirty" way I can look over the data the machine puts out without having to log into the software and pull up the data. I usually check the machine each morning when I get up, especially the AHI readings and Mask Leak. It's not a big deal, just another hosehead tool.

I export the reports in PDF format and keep them in folder on my desktop so they are handy. When I go to see my sleep doc, I can just give him a digital copy of my reports. He doesn't have the SmartLink software at his office so I will provide the reports to him.

I use this; it allows me to track wt loss, data, wakeups, congestion, exercise, stress with an area for comments. Landscape format, I keep it on a clipboard.

Encore Pro keeps all uploads in an SQL database. You can generate a report for any saved period.

That's pretty much its primary function, actually!

I was told that hospitals do have CPAP machines--so no need to take yours with you --it might get broken or lost. You might want to throw your mask and headgear in your bag to go to the hospital though so you at least have that with you. A friend of mine went to urgent care and then an ambulance ride to the nearest hospital unexpectedly. They had a CPAP machine and mask awaiting for her arrival since she told the paramedics she has sleep apnea. SO that was good to know,

Carrie

Don't forget that your machine's screen shows only 7 and 30 day AVERAGES, not a single night's data. And a 0% on the 7 or 30 day average for Large Leak does not mean your mask is not leaking or you are not mouth breathing--it takes a LOT of leaking to show even 1%.

Well, one of the main reasons I load my data into the computer is that I can't read the data screen of the System One without glasses!

I noticed it was installing SQL as well when the software was being installed. Can you share any steps for producing other reports, outside of what Encore Pro provides?

I have the Encore Viewer software, but I, too, like to have another form. I'm still playing around with it, but I'm working on an Excel spreadsheet where I can input the data from the Viewer and have it plot it on a graph for me. It's definitely a work in progress, but I think I'm still deciding just what info I want to track.
