Encore pro 2.4 not always recording wave data?

Post by jonquiljo » Wed Nov 03, 2010 12:29 pm

Hi,

I've been using Encore Pro in addition to Encoreviewer - and find that occasionally the Encore Pro software does not show waveform data for that day? Then the next day it will do it right and record it, etc. I'm not sure what is going wrong. Any ideas. Thanks.

Hi, I just started therapy a week ago and am new to the forum. I am having the same issue as you. I was able to load Encore Pro 2.4 on an older Win XP Pro machine and it installed and seems to be running without a glitch except I have not been able to see ANY waveform data. I'd be interested to see if anyone out there has an answer or explaination for this. Also, I noticed in looking at my data for any particular day that it seems to have the tail end of the night before's data on the same day as the currrent night's data showing up for the same day. Obviously that does not give you all the pertinent data for the same night's sleep together. Perhaps this has something to do with the internal clock on the machine???? Any thoughts?

I am not familiar with waveform data but believe what you are seeing with "the tail end of the night before's data" is the way Encore is setup in Prerences is for the day to begin at noon time running until noon the next day. It confused me too so I changed it to be midnight.

I am using encore pro 2.4 and can't find where to change the time anywhere. The only preferences screen I found was under the "Company Settings" tab and there was nothing there I could see to change the time frame.

Say, perhaps this thread is a good place to ask...

Where can I find Encore pro 2.2 or 2.4? I specifically bought a system one cpap so I could prove to my pulmonologist that I'm having rapid breathing at night - she thinks I'm imagining it.

I downloaded 2.2 from a torrent site, but it doesn't allow single-computer installs, only to a network.

My HMO pulmonologist is not familiar with the new software, so I'm on my own if I want to discover and treat my screwy night breathing.

Annoyingly, I actually did pay $200 or so for Encore Pro some years ago when some CPAP stores were selling it to end users. It didn't work - never installed successfully - the seller told me to take it up with Respironics, and respironics told me to get stuffed since I wasn't a sleep lab... but they all kept my money. So beyond the virus risk, I have no compunction against getting the software any way I can.

I'm really a bit desperate, sleeping terribly. Any help greatly appreciated.

To set the time go to

Company settings
Offices
Clic on the name you gave to your office
Edit
Now choose the proper time zone to your region and save.

Note that you could need to correct your machine's time by choosing a different time zone than the one you really are. Ex. I'm on Eastern time zone (GMT -5:00) but I needed to choose Atlantic time zone (GMT -4:00). I'm not sure why the time in the machine had one hour difference with the GMT -5, maybe the machine doesn't takes in consideretion the summer time change, I'll see that soon .

In the older version it was under Demographics I think - something called Start of Day?

Thanks. That did the trick. I was wondering what the heck with the time line. I may still be off an hour but like you said it may just be DST.....guess we will find out this weekend and I will pay attention to what time I actually go to sleep tonight. I assume that 0=midnight? Now all I have to do it make better sense of the rest of the numbers and I'm on my way. This forum has been great so far.........thanks again.

I did that - I am Pacific and had to set it to mountain time. I have everything set right - and with that correction it now knows what time it really is.

But ... I really don't get this at all. I just downloaded the data from last night (Thursday) and found no waveform data. Yesterday I did the same thing and there was waveform data.

I'm missing something. I wait until it is after 12n the next day and sometimes it loads waveform and sometimes not. Everything else is flawless.

Any experts here?????

Don't wait until AFTER noon. Always do your download BEFORE noon. Give the PAP 10-15 minutes to do its "math" after you get up in the AM and then any time between then and before noon do your download.

One day earlier in the week I downloaded before noon and got no waveform data. Yesterday I downloaded after noon and got waveform data. Today I did the same thing and did not get waveform data.

It just seems arbitrary, and I really wish there was some documentation. But I've tried both ways and got varied results. It's got to be something else therefore - though I haven't the foggiest notion of what it is.

I have been using Encore Pro 2.2. I have noticed when I download everyday I will have a wave form for each day. If I download after 5 or 7 days I will have 1 or maybe 2 wave forms. I have no idea what is the parameter used by the machine to decide to make a waveform because there is no logic on the number of days without wave form in the cases I don't download each day. I mean I can have one after 3 days or only after 4 days, sometimes I have non for 4 days and then I have two one after the other; this in case I didn't download for 7 days or so. Crazy stuff. I am not sure this behave is only on Encore Pro 2.4.

I don't know if you need to download the data each day or if only taking out the card each day an putting it back will give a wave form. That would be something to check, I can't do it know because I'm not using the System One. But if I remember, when I install again the System One I will make the experiment. If you do it let me know what do you find.

And last, I download always in the morning I can't say if there is an hour in the day as a limit time to do the download, although I know for Resmed that exist.

This is strange. My original SD (I have only been on CPAP for about a week and a half now) never reported wave form data for the 1st week of therapy. My original SD card caused my machine to beep after I turned it off every monring so the DME sent me a new one. I have used the new one for 2 nights and both mornings I got wave form data. (I downloaded the data probably about 15 min after turning the machine off each morning.) Will see if it continues to report wave form data.
