I'm trying to go where no (wo)man has gone before. At least I've not found anyone else trying this. I have a Mac OSX and am running the newest version of Parallels with Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP2. To this I've added the Encore Viewer sold on this site bundled with the Mako DT3500 card reader.
I'm having an issue where the Encore Viewer does not seem to recognize that the card reader is attached. It is weird because Windows clearly knows it is attached. I've tried updating and removing updated drivers, I've tried removing the whole Encore viewer and reinstalling, I've tried various configurations of booting (ie: drive attached/unattached at boot up of whole machine, of just parallels, of just windows, of just the software). Strangely it worked the very first time I installed it, so I have a sneaking suspicion that there might be a Windows registry entry somewhere causing issues.
Has anyone ever had this problem of the software not finding the card reader (Mac or just regular Windows) and figured out how to fix it?
At them moment I'm downloading the Pro version to see if I can make that one work, but I sort of expect I may have the same problem if I can even get it up and running.
Encore software - technical question
Re: Encore software - technical question
I'm not much of a computer maven, but ...
Would it help to move the data files from the card to a file on Windows and then open them from Encore Viewer?

Re: Encore software - technical question
Do you first acknowledge the SQ thing when you go in? Have you done it properly before and now it won't work? I have BootCamp in mine and have also had issues, but you do need to first get the initial screen going.
Re: Encore software - technical question
I don't use Viewer or MAC's but I do know in Encore Pro ver 1.8 the default setting for the reader was NOT USB and needed to be changed to USB. Check in you Preferences to make sure.

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Encore software - technical question
Have you tried reading a non CPAP SD card to see if the SD reader is working properly?

I don't know, so far I can't see a way to view the smartcard file - it does not show up as an extra drive (like a dvd etc.) but if I go to device manager it is clearly there and working properly as far as device manager is concerned. When I open the Encore Viewer the "Download from Device" button in grayed out and inactive.
If anyone knows how I could browse to the file on the card that might work!
Re: Encore software - technical question
I figured I'd post an update just in case anyone else ever has this problem. I downloaded the 32 bit version of EncorePro and it seems to be able to find the device just fine. Unless it fails to find the smartcard in the future I think this will be a workable solution. I will update again if EncorePro 'loses' the reader.
