Best Full face Mask
Best Full face Mask
I have been using a cpap machine for the last year with a nose mask. I never manage to keep the mask on overnight taking the mask off o/night and leaving on the nightstand (I never remember waking up and taking it off !)
I want to try a full face mask to see if it makes a difference. I am an active sleeper tossing & turning.
Any suggestions.

If you want to try a full face mask, I'd recommend the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF mask.
If you think there's any possibility that the reason you remove your current mask is because your nose gets congested after you've been laying down awhile, then a full face mask might be the answer.
If you think you have treatment air leaking out your mouth while wearing your current mask, again a full face mask is a good solution.
Otherwise, you might want to try one of the "nasal pillows" imasks like the Breeze or the Swift. I have a Breeze with nasal pillows - allows me to toss and turn from side to side easily. However, I do have to put tape across my lips to prevent air from leaking from my mouth when I wear any mask other than my full face mask. I wear the Breeze almost every night...very comfortable to sleep in. I use my full face mask on nights when I have a cold or nasal congestion that prevents me from breathing through my nose easily.

Best Full Face Mask
John,
I have only been "on the hose" for 3 weeks now, so I'm not much of an expert. I have a ResMed Mirage FF Mask. In fact, I just ordered an Ultra Mirage FF last week. Anything new takes some getting used to, so don't expect miracles to happen over night.
I got the Mirage from my DME, and I like it. Ordered the Ulta Mirage on line, it should be here on Tuesday.
You may have to do some tweaking to get the proper fit, but that comes with the territory.
Isn't Sleep Apnea fun?
Take care and good sleep

You beat me to the punch, RG
I was just composing a reply similar to yours. But they say that great minds think alike

Johnn, I should mention that another traditional style nasal mask (covers the nose) that I like really well is the Activa by ResMed.
So, the three I use are:
Breeze/nasal pillows (most of the time)
Activa nasal mask (occasionally just for a change)
ResMed Ultra Mirage FF (full face for nights when I want to breathe through my mouth)

Best Full Face Mask
All,
thanks for the info. I am going to go with the advice and will buy a full face mask first - see how I get on - if the full face mask does not work I will go for the nasal pillows.
Thanks again for your advice.

This is the mask I'm using now,it but it's not working well.its close to the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF mask. It leaks and gives me pink eye and i've already broken the little plastic clips (POORLY BUILT)and had to repair it.(myself)
The rear headbandis now all streched out and has never really fit well
I'm looking for more of a deepsea diver helmet / astronaut style

hahah maybe an sleep apnea fullbody suit???

Has anyone tried Respironics' Total?

Not quite a diver's helmet, but, jeepers, that's supposed to make a person less claustrophobic?

LOL Clownshow! What pictures!
As for the "its close to the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF mask", imho, the Respironics masks are not even in the same ballpark with ResMed's masks. But I know what you mean - similar appearance in a picture.
Sure, when you see pictures of the various manufacturer's masks and read the ad descriptions, they each sound like the best thing since sliced bread. But use any Respironics mask first, then try the closest style model in a ResMed mask, and there's a world of difference. Of course, this is only one person's opinion... masks that suit one person are a disaster for someone else.
I used the mask you showed (the UPPER picture!! lol ) the Respironics ComfortFull, for quite a few months. It was leaky on me and the "comfort" in the name sure wasn't there in a cushion that dug into the face. Switched to the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF mask and have used it for a lot more months...much, much better built mask and much more comfortable cushion. Not leaky at all, even with straps fairly loose. Respironics makes very good machines, but they are light years behind ResMed in mask design and mask cushion technology - again, imho.

Do you find the hose slips off at the mask alot? the adjustable forhead rest thing will never stay where I want it either and where the ball clips to the mask on the bottom for the strap... those are the clips that broke on me... Now, why the heck wouldnt they make it so that is shaped so those cheasy plastic tabs wouldn't break. they could fix that problem in about 10 minutes with a die grinder to their molds but hey Broken Mask Parts = CA$HOLABig Snore wrote:I also use the repironics mask, but I LOVE it!!!! In fact I just got my new one (wore out the old one, plus ins gives me new one every 6 mos.) and the changed the forehead rest a little, it is great IMO.

IMO the medical product industry should not follow the automotive industry with making products that wear out and need to be replaced. all it does is drive up the cost of health insurance and waste time.

Resmed ultra mirage full face mask.
I find this mask has a need for change in the head rest section. mine just came off me twice, and second time broke at the bottom, so I have taped it until I can get a new one. does anyone else experience this problem with this section? It is the best I have used up till now.
I agree with the person who said respronics cant make a mask to compare to resmed! No way Hosea.
