Question for Nasal Mask Users

Post by Wanttosleep » Fri Oct 29, 2010 10:24 am

Hello again everyone. I last reported that I had gotten and Nasal Pillow Mask (as indicated in my equipment desciption). I had a great 1st week. At the beginning of the 2nd week I started getting leaks which I reported on this forum. I also started experiencing an itchy nose which I sort of wrote off as being caused by the pillows moving around. I got suggestion to try using Lansonoh and it helped the leaks but the itching continues and has increased. It's causing me to take a longer time to fall asleep and I awaken much more frequently because of it.

I've been keeping a log of how I've been feeling. I had noted that with the first mask I got, which was a full face mask, I had dreamed and I had a feeling of energy. The problem is that the mask leaked horribly. I tightened and loosed and adjusted and nothing helped. That's when I went to the Nasal Pillow. With the Nasal Pillow I'm more refreshed when I wake up but I'm still getting sleepy around 2pm and falling alseep while trying to watch TV.

Now that the Nasal Pillow is causing my nose to itch, and upon re-reading my log, I decided to try a Nasal Mask because I think that I get better sleep with my nose covered with the mask vs the nasal pillows.

Finally I'm getting to the purpose of my post. How do the user's of Nasal Masks feel about the Mirage SoftGel Mask. I ordered it as a result of ratings I had read.

Thanks and Sleep On!

I found the Mirage Soft Gel to be VERY comfortable. The only thing is, it definitely is quite a bit heavier on the face than a nasal pillow mask such as a Swift FX. Also, I found that I needed to make a bit more room in my pillow for the nasal mask and so I have a contour memory foam cpap pillow with cut outs and also a Regensis buckwheat hull pillow so that I can adequately make a spot for the mask.

Hope you sleep well with the Mirage Soft Gel!

Best regards,

Jersey Girl
