HEART PROBLEMS?

Post by pain32 » Thu Oct 28, 2010 1:40 pm

I've been having chest pains and fast heart beat, pounding when I wake up sometimes and also during the day? Anyone else have this? And how exactly is this related to sleep apnea? Is it your heart isn't getting enough oxygen or gets too much adrenaline when you stop breathing during the night?

This is something to discuss with your doctor. Yes, sleep apnia causes a reduced oxygen supply which in turn may cause your heart to pump harder. Have you been diagnosed with OSA?

Pain32, you posted your concerns yesterday and again today. I don't have the issues you noted but if I did I'd definitely make a doctor appointment. You should do the same.

Yes Pain,

you have three threads I think going, and this is something to be concerned about, as they are about health issues you are experiencing..
you must be worried about this or you would not be asking these questions..

You should have a good doc check this out.. maybe a cardiologist.. I replied to two of your posts about that..

Yes, sleep apnea can cause heart issues, so please go get yourself an appt... and see if you can get an oximeter from the doctor
to check your oxygen levels while you sleep... that might lead to a sleep study and a diagnosis of OSA if you have it..

no matter, go get yourself looked at by the very best diagnostician you can find.. it could be anything, so you need to be your
own health care advocate and get to the bottom of what is causing your symptoms..

I was referred to a sleep specialist by my cardiologist.

I went last wek on the 18th for my yearly physical and you'd never guess what happened... Well when the Dr listened to my heart with his stethoscope , he told me he heard some thing he's never heard before on me. Sooo he sent me to get a Carotid Duplex and then the next day I went for an Echocardiogram... Well again guess what???? Both the tests found that I have carotid artery stenosis and I also have my aortic valve that is not working right and so the Dr called me back to his office to discuss the results and he knows I use a cpap at night and when ever I nap. No I don't think cpap has any thing to do wiht this atall. I mentioned to a dr a few years ago that I felt like my heart was doing a flip flop in there , but they did ekg test and never found any thing and this time some thing was found, but not on the ekg machine, they were found on those two tests that were done at the hospital. . 2 some things to be exact. Well he set me up a referral to see a cariologist here in town so I might have to go in for surgery on my valve. My Dr told me I will need surgery on the valve , but they will do follow up carotid duplex test to see if in the future that I will need any stents put in. Can you beat that. I have not got the appointment as yet so I don't know when or where the surgery will take place. I'm nervous and scared. So you really should go see your Dr and get those some tests done as they might tell the Dr some thing. I think it is amazing now what the medical profession can do today that they could not do 50 years ago. I'm kind of a chicken Bawk , Bawek , Bawk. But I want to see what's over that next hill so I will have the surgery or I could die of a stroke or some thing. Take care, Huggies, Fay

Stenosis or plaque thickening? If the latter, ask your doc about trying what worked for my mom, namely, Source Naturals L-Proline L-Lysine combo. It's got all 3 factors required for the creation of healthy collagen, the stuff of blood vessels. This is a direct result of the work of Linus Pauling & Mathias Rath, commonly called the Pauling-Rath theory of the origin of plaque (that so you can do some research). Mom had significant blockages in both carotid arteries. After 18 months of taking 1 pill/day, no more blockages...gone, totally. Not sure when they disappeared as her former doc was pissed she wouldn't take a more aggressive approach to 'treating' her blockages (discovered during a health fair screening), so he wouldn't check to see if there was improvement. Her new doc found no signs of blockages. If this is what is going on in the carotid arteries perhaps you'll have the same good results my mom did.

I agree, it's pretty amazing what they can do today. For a month, I had this amazing little gadget I used to record my irregular heartbeat when I noticed it. Called an 800 number and played back the recordings every night when I had 'em so the pattern could be anlyzed and sent to my cardio...all normal thank goodness. I was mouth leaking and experiencing increased events...no-data CPAP so I didn't know what was going on...we all thought it was something cardiac & no one suspected it was apnea events again as I was progessing in my recovery from apnea. I was having daytime hypops too and was likely desaturating tho I didn't realize what was happening until months later after I found this forum and got educated.

Heart Issues = Doctor.

That device to record abnormal heartbeats is neato- I had a similar thing a while back, and when they did ekg's it never showed, of course... like taking your car into the mechanic, trying to explain a nosie and such.

When it happend while wearing the moniter, I went to the cardio doc and said "I TOLD YOU I WASN'T CRAZY!!!!!"

Turned out to be med related, and harmless.

You really do need to talk with your doctor. Do you have sleep apnea?
