attaching Climateline tubing

Post by jbenenson » Wed Oct 27, 2010 8:42 am

I just received my S9 with the humidifier and Climateline tubing. The (vague) instructions say the tubing should be attached to a "fully assembled mask system". Since the sensor at the mask end is supposed to monitor the temperature and humidity at the mask, I have attached the Climateline tubing directly to the mask. (I removed the foot of clear tubing that came with the mask). Do other S9 users do this? Is it supposed to attach to the clear tubing instead of the mask directly?

Great question. I can only speak for myself. My Climateline tubing is connected to the foot-long deal that goes into my Swift II nasal pillow mask system. Of course, there's no way for the Climateline to connect directly into the Swift II.

I never once thought about connecting it directly to the Swift II, though. I'm confident that the air temp and humidity won't change much in the 1' (1/3 metre) of tubing.

I made a 'snuggy' for the little tube coming out of my FX--it seems to be working fine;
--even with the window next to the bed open just a crack so my XM antenna can be on the outside of the window.
(Who knew low-E glass blocks radio waves?)

I rolled over onto my hose enough, now I suspend it above me.
I still like the heat. It's nice. . . mmm.

It is ambiguous, but I think Resmed's definition of "fully assembled" would include the short feeder hose.

Mine just arrived in the mail from our host company. Connected to the back of the S9 and the display lit up right away and noted that the clmateline was attached. the other end I attached to the short clear tubing. If rainout is a problem, I'll attach it directly to the connector on the mask. But I doubt that short distance will cause precipitation. If it does, I'll make a snuggie extension out of an old handtowel or the neighbor's cat or something.

Can't wait for bedtime! Stay tuned.

Actually, there is a temperature sensor at the mask end of the tubing!
