If you do not have soft water, it does not matter.
Hard water will turn anything into a scum that will stick to silicone, making your mask unusable.
I have to wash and rinse in distilled water, although our water is very good to drink.

Re: Best Mask Cleaner
I use Citrus II wipes for daily cleaning of mask cushion/nasal pillows on work days. On weekends I use Ivory Liquid dish soap for mask and hose and then one part distilled vinegar to 3 parts water in water chamber and soak.

I was told by the respiratory specialist that anti-bacterial soaps leave a residue.CinnyAnn wrote:This may be stupid to ask, but why not antibacterial soap. Too strong, maybe. I have been using Dial handsoap that is antibacterial. Sounds as if I will have to change.

Yes, lakejumper, I have been using the travel packs of Wet Ones for the past 2 years when I travel. The pack is really nice because it reliably reseals if you keep the opening edge dry before resealing. I wipe my mask first and completely every morning--but because the size of the sheet is way over-kill, I then wipe down the phone, TV remote, door knobs, etc. every morning with the same wipe. Of course, you can always just pull a bunch of wipes from your regular canister (I love Clorox non-bleach Orange scent), cut them to size, fold & stack 'em, and seal inside 2 ziplocks. I've had no problem whatever (as in no leaks) with using these this way, over multiple-flight trips for 2 weeks at a time.lakejumper wrote:I like the idea of using wipes for cleaning my mask, especially when I'm traveling. Has anyone used the brand Wet Ones? They come in either a canister or individually wrapped packages.

Re: Best Mask Cleaner
I've never cleaned a mask. Well, okay that's not entirely true. I think I have wiped it out with the handtowel in the kitched once or twice but that's it.
