So cool! I Slept Last Night!

Post by adksleepygal » Fri Oct 22, 2010 8:44 am

Wow - I am so excited today - just had to share - last night went the best yet - I woke up happy! I used a little trick I read on here....I put my favorite fragrance of Bath and Body After Shower Spray which is "Cotton Blossom" on a tissue and set that near the air intake - I relaxed so much and slept the best in maybe years - I actually fell asleep within 15 min which is so not normal for me. I also have my machine now on a little stool with a folded piece of fleece under it and the sound is so much better - not scary and I could hardly hear it. I woke up once to a leak and got that fixed and then found a way to get positioned on my stomach which is my fav way to sleep - ZZZZZZZZZZ's all the way .........
Hoping I am on the way to success - will get the Auto thing setup next week. Does that require a different machine?
Thanks everyone - I am feeling very positive now!!

Great news! And, no, you shouldn't need a new machine if the one you have listed is the one you have now.

One great night at a time!

I'm so happy for you... and jealous! LOL

I was excited to see you are a stomach sleeper like I want to go back to being soon. I have a nasal mask, but am exchanging it for a hybrid so I'm encouraged that there might be some good sleep in my future.

Cheers,
Xena

adksleepygal - Great to hear. I know exactly what you mean about being so excited you want to tell someone. I think there are many people here who can relate to that. I have a few nights of sleep in the last month that have been soooo much better than I have had in years. Best of all my wife can sleep with out hearing the grizzly bear snoring next to her.

Xenablue - Don't give up. I know exactly what both of you mean about being a stomach sleeper!

Yes - hold on to that thought Xena - I am sure you can get back to stomach sleeping - I think that is why I slept so well again - its the best!!

Hi - Terrific to hear you're doing well, so I want to be sure it continues. It might be a good idea to use something more stable than a little stool and/or rig a way to tie down the machine because many people have turned over in their sleep, pulling the machine off their tables or wherever they're kept, and I doubt that you'd want that to happen.

Thanks very much for the good suggestion Julie....I will get some zip ties from hubbie's stash and stabilize this more - the stool is very strong and stable as it was made by woodworker hubby just to the correct size - he is amazing. He actually did not wake up from me and my struggles with cpap last night and I only woke up once from his snoring LOL!

Excellent! I think the best part is how calm and comfy I feel when I first wake up--that's what makes CPAP totally worthwhile.

Your APAP can be set for either APAP or CPAP mode. Are they going to retitrate you at home? Sometimes that can disturb your sleep if they set the machine for a wide open range (i.e. 4 to 20) because the differences in pressure can wake you and blow your mask to make it leak. If you're used to CPAP mode, you can ask them to let your CPAP pressure be your lowest pressure setting (or at most 1 or 2 cm. below that setting) and then the range might be more narrow so you will have fewer sleep disruptions.

Also, once you are used to a certain pressure in CPAP mode, if they set the low pressure too low in APAP mode you might feel like you are suffocating becuase you are used to having at least a certain level of pressure now.

I hope it goes well, you are on the road to recovery now.

I'm happy to listen so good news.

Well, as I have slept my first nicht without apnoe, I'm feeling great! I woke up in the morning and was not tired...
