Okay well, for now you could try putting a bandaid on your nose, or a tiny piece of t shirt material on your blister..

I have the apnea they gave me a machine last monday and a mask and i have been using it but now i have a blister on my nose from where the mask is rubbing against it I called the cpap people but they just said to get a new mask but i don't know what mask to get or where to get it from. i try to put it up on my nose but that just blows air in my eye and keeps me awake. where do i get a new mask from?

Where did you have your sleep study?

Who ordered your sleep study?

ARe you under the care of a sleep specialist physician?

Are the cpap people the equipment providers only, or are they the people where you took the test?

Is this being covered by insurance?

YOu need to get a copy of your sleep study, do you know what your titrated pressure is?

Use a bandaid on your nose for the time being.

Put a little Lanisoh on the boo-boo.

Tell Apria that you would like to exchange the mask for "nose pillows."

Do not over-tighten your mask or nose pillows. They should be fairly loose, only tight enough to prevent leaks.

Get a copy of the prescription for your CPAP machine and mask. If need be, you can use the prescription to buy a mask somewhere else, such as from our host, cpap.com.

Hospital in Washington DC. My primary Dr ordered my study, I don't know what a sleep physicians is so maybe? the cpap people are the people that gave me the cpap it was apria. yes i have insurance. I don't have a copy of my study or my pressure where do i get that?

So, did your primary physician order this sleep study? If he did, he should have a copy of the results.. Ask him for the five to eight page
summary, you are going to need that..

So apria is our equipment provider, and yowza, you have insurance, great! Are there any deductables involved if you know of?

Your equipment provider must have the prescrition for your machine I would imagine.. so they and your doctor should have your titration
pressure.. You can call the doctor's office and ask them what your titration pressure is, and get them to get you a copy of your study..

The equipment providers should be in charge of getting you a new mask which fits you, this is their responsibility.. if you arent happy with them,
find out what other equipment providers are covered by your insurance..

and hang out here, youll learn a lot..

How did your sleep study go? How did you come to be diagnosed? did you have some apnea related symptoms?

are you a mouth breather only? If so, maybe that is why you got stuck with a full face mask?

if not, be sure to ask to try the nose pillow masks..

can you tell us what machine you have? What brand is it? maybe you can find one which looks like it on cpap.com
look under cpap machines.. if you dont see it, look under auto machines..


It is important that you receive a therapy data capable machine so you know whats going on, its a drag being in the dark, and why most
people fail at cpap...

First off my Apria DME told me I could get a free mask within the first 30 days if
I wasn't happy with the one I had. Boo-boo on the nose could be troublesome. A nasal mask would be
helpful in this instantance. Because it fits in your nose not on it. My personal preference is
Swift Lite for her. You can go on cpap.com and look at all their masks and chose the one you most
would like to try and then take Apria up on getting a new mask. Being able to switch masks can be helpful
down the line for whatever reason.

Amy, the nose pillows on my mask sit against the nostrils. The openings go into the nostrils only slightly, mostly to hold the pillows in place. I do not feel the pillows inside my nose at all. They are quite comfortable for me.

if you need a full face mask... try a Hybrid... it's a combination of a pillow and a cushion... so it slightly goes in your nose and covers your mouth.

Stick with the mask you have.... The bump will go away. I did not notice which type of mask you have, but there may be a knob on it to adjust the angle. Try playing with the mask when it is not on your face. If there is an adjustment, you can see it brings it closer or further from your face. I had to adjust it all the way out, or flat to take the pressure off the top of my nose. While nasal pillows work for some folks, they did NOT work for me. I like the idea of a small piece of t-shirt. The nose is a sensitive spot. The bump will go away, it sorta develops like a callous (not unsightly, just no longer sensitive). How do you like the sleep with CPAP so far???

Uh oh I don't want to fail at cpap! I have no bandaids but I will run to the store and get some I can call my doctor in the morning too I looked at thing you linked but what in the world is that? looks like that tube goes into into the mans nose that does not look comfortable.

If you have some old cotton knit t-shirts just lay your mask on it and cut around it and cut a hole in the fabric for your nose and mouth. The fabric will sit between you face and the mask. Experiment with the sizes and practice putting it on during the day. Many of us react to the touch of the mask on our skin.

bye the way, sometimes after a night or two the headstrap loosens, so dont be surprised if you need to adjust the little
notches.. I think they stretch.. but so comfy!


also, use your outside hand when you are on your side to smoosh a basin for the nose pillows, less leaks that way, you can teach yourself
to do that while you are sleeping.. you can also try sleeping on the edge of your pillow, and let the nose pillow sort of fall of the cliff of it..
I like smooshimg, myself!
