nosebleeds
nosebleeds
I just got my first cpap last week. I am prone to nosebleeds while sleeping anyway, and it wakes me up. But, now with a CPAP I am worried about aspirating or suffocating. I am starting to use neosynephrine and will turn up my humidifier.

Re: nosebleeds
For many people (including myself) cpap and the humidifier is a blessing in disguise.newinmt wrote:I just got my first cpap last week. The neosynephrine is NOT something you should be using if you have nose bleeds.
What kind of mask do you have?, what machine? click on the user conrtol panel on the upper left side of the screen and fill in what your equipment is in words.

Yes, please fill in your equipment profile. At first, I got some minor nosebleeds (I am not prone to them). I found that the humidifier needed to be turned up a couple of notches. Been fine ever since.

Re: nosebleeds
Since I started using my hybrid mask, I've had hardly any nosebleeds, or nasal congestion either. I would have tried CPAP for that alone!

Re: nosebleeds
I agree with BlackSpinner that neosynephrine is a bad idea. In addition to not being great with nosebleeds, neosynephrine can trigger rebound congestion if used more than just a couple of days or so.
You might want to try a simple OTC saline solution nasal spray for both helping soothe the mucous membranes and ease the congestion in the nose as well as up the humidifier.

Re: nosebleeds
If you are prone to nosebleeds you can go to ENT doctor and get your nose cauterized. Thats what i ended up doing.
