Nita,

You have a problem here.

If you set a 2i on 6 and saw that the water level had gone way down (as it should) and you still felt the need to drink water in the night & your nose was dry next day, then there is some problem that needs attention.

My 1st reaction is to ask ...

1) What climate are you in ?
2) Is this climate controlled by air conditioning ?
3) Is it summer or Winter (am assuming you are coming into winter )

But, based on what you have said, I am guessing you are in an airconditioned environment and this is sucking the moisture from the air.

Cheers

if I get guested again I am Severeena. This is ridiculous.

I have found out with forced air heat, you can put a pan of water on the register where the heat comes out. Warning for those with pets, use a plastic bucket that ice cream comes in with the lid and poke holes in the lid. This keeps the pets out and water can evaporate. Then all you have to do is remove the lid fill with water and replace the lid.

I have done this for a very long time before the APAP.

DSM and Sharon, thanks for your replies.

No air conditioning here. I'm on the Oregon coast and coming into winter just means rain and more rain.

My oil heat does dry the house out, but at night, it's turned down, and I'm in my bedroom with door closed. No forced air.

Last night I used hot tap water, and the air felt warm. I still had dry mouth when I woke up this morning. Never have I felt a hint of moisture.

Maybe it's because it's so moist outside?? I don't know. Thanks again,

Nita

The Resmed humidair is known for being "whimppy" . It will run out of water if it works at all. It contains thyristor circitry that is very sensitive to power. Use of a cheap Square wave, sometimes called modified sine wave inverter is a death sentence. The Resmed Spirit is a bit dated. Its been out since summer 2002. Their new units use the same algorithm so nothing new at Resmed. Besides, Its so BIG.
I had a Spirit for nearly 3 years. Humidifier never worked properly. It was replaced under warranty. I Don't miss it.

Now, now! I LIKE my Resmed Spirit. I really do! Seems to work well with my apneas and gives me instant info without having to go to the computer. But the humidifier does seem to be pretty wimpy. And it is big, I'll give you that too.

I also have the 420E....I need to read the manual more on that one. I'm never sure I have it working correctly, so I keep defaulting back to the Spirit. Both are set up ready to go right by my bedside (yes, it is a mess of stuff with 4 masks and 2 machines!)

I mean, really, these are air compressors! How much have they learned about air compression in the last three years? I love having the latest greatest gadgets as much as the next person...but the Spirit is still a pretty nice setup.
