Joyce you will need to buy encore pro from respironics (you can buy it at cpap.com for 99.00) You will also need a card reader to down load you data into encore pro, then We all would recommended myencore created by derek, you can find it on this site for free. These thre things will allow you to follow your progress

You can download the current version, 1.5 for free off of their website.

the download is 105 MB so if you're on a dialup it could be an overnighter.

And why would they allow you to download it if they want you to buy it for $99? Is there something during the install that asks you to pay or something?

I suspect this is an upgrade from version 1.4

frostman,
That would have been my first guess too. But it doesn't say anything about upgrade and it's 105MB... which would be a pretty hefty upgrade.

When you initially install it, does it ask for a registration keycode from the packaging (I'm assuming it comes with packaging when you buy it for $99). If so... maybe it just asks you to re-enter that keycode or something.

Next time I boot to windowsXP I'll give it a try. You have to install .NET and something else for this to install?

It does not ask for a serial number, payment, or anything. It installs as a full working version (at least it did for me).

You didn't have Encore Pro installed at any time before this?? Seems unlikely that they'd offer this software for free when they've been charging $100 or more for it. There is the chance that they accidentally put the full version up. If so...grab it while you can??

Does the REMstar auto come with the smart card or does the smart card come with the software?

Just curious as I rebooted to windows and installed Encore Pro with no apparent problems. I even started it up and added myself as a patient so it seems to be working. I don't have the card reader and my REMstar is due to be delivered on Monday so this isn't a high priority yet or anything.

Maybe I'll go order the card reader ...

Both. You get one with the machine and one with the software.

Nope, I didn't have anything else installed prior to the 1.5 download. I was a brand new user.

Just like Yardbird, I installed it before I received the card reader and confirmed that it would install and allow me to use it and it did. I received the card reader a few days later and been working every since.

REALITY ALERT

Post by dsm » Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:31 am

Hi Folks,

Just dropped in from my busy schedule (trying to keep awake ) and caught this thread.

My 1st reactions to the 'free' 1.5 are as follows, use as you see fit

1) Yes it does appear to be free (I just downloaded & installed a copy)
2) I believe 1.5 reformats the database from earlier versions
3) I believe that Derek's MyEncore program may not work with 1.5 (Derek?)
4) (this is my humble opinion) That respironics swre without Derek's MyEncore is no use to us plebs - Resmed's swre by contrast is vastly helpful.

I am happy to be educated / corrected on any of the above points. But I do say, beware of geeks baring gifts

(to the punless among us geeks=Greeks & the ref is to the trojan horse (Greeks baring gifts (the horse gifted to the Trojans) the Greeks hidden within snuck out & sacked Troy to this day we talk of the free gift ploy - a trojan horse to get in the door & destroy what you want & 'they' don't )

Cheers to y'all & please do forgive me if this sounds very melodramatic

DSM
(PS soon hope to add a completely (fan unit & all) dissasembled Remstar BiPap Pro 2 with BiFlex to the photo collection)

I am using Derek's MyEncore software with v1.5 without any problems. However, I do not use the APAP (which I think is what 1.5 was updated for).

Is this a great site or what!!! I just downloaded and installed the software. It is working fine. Took about 4 minutes on my cable/broadband connection through a 2.4 GHz wireless router. I was looking into buying the sofware and now Santa has arrived early.

Now my question is: Can I buy a standard USB "smartcard" reader/writer from CompUSA or Best Buys, or is this a proprietary smart card?
