Iron Lung for Central Apnea?
Iron Lung for Central Apnea?
If a person was having bad apnea, but the apneas were mostly central (the brain not telling the lung muscle/diaphragm to breath at night) instead of obstructive, and an expensive ST (spontaneous timed) or ASV (adaptive servo ventilator) PAP machine didn't work, would an iron lung be a good alternative? I know they used to use them back in the day (for polio?) and would think a person could pick one up for cheap.
Re: Iron Lung for Central Apnea?
just kidding, sorry. probably hard to "pick one up" anyway, being iron.
