Trouble with Fisher and Paykel Model HC254 -help

Post by gre » Sun Jun 20, 2010 1:55 pm

My Fisher and Paykel Model HC254 is acting up. The display is flashing ES 1 or E5 1 (can't tell which). For several days it has been showing the same numbers when I go through the display. API of 0, leaks 0, stuck at 1785 hours even though I am using the machine each night. I usually have 1 API each hour and leaks in the low 20's so I know the numbers are off. My DME and respiratory therapist are unavailable as it is Sunday--they are usually super helpful. I have tried unplugging the machine and reinserting the Smart Stick correctly. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

There aren't very many on this forum who use the F & P 254.

Since you want help right away, you should search the forum for the few people who do use it and PM them to, hopefully, get an answer quickly.

Most machines will run without the data card, leave it out asn see it it still acts up. Jim

Thanks for your suggestions. I called my DME this morning and my respiratory therapist said he would be in my area tomorrow and will bring me a new machine. I am so lucky as both my DME and respiratory therapist have provided outstanding service since I started on CPAP last October. (First time I haven't had to drive 30 miles each way to their office) This is really great service. I wish everyone could work with a company and therapist like mine!

I just want to know how you get the leak rate in the 20's. I have been using the same machine for about 10 months and have not once left the low 50's.
ahi has been anywhere from 0 to about 6 during that time.
In any event, have never seen the errors you speak of, but good to see you are taking care of ya.
If you run into any problems with the software (Performance Maximisizer) I might be able to help a lttiel bit... Have had a few issues
here and there with that and even had my dme call me to see how I fixed it

Oh, and although unrelated, as goofproof said, you can run without the usb card on the back of the device.
I think they told me the device will store up to 1 year of data internally....
I have run with and without my card, however never had the error you come across.

I know this is an old thread, but I had the same issue in May with my 254 while I was on vacation. Its like it wasn't logging data anymore, but it certainly seemed to still be adjusting my pressures. When I took it in to the DME peeps, she asked me for the cord to plug it in. I told her the code it was showing (E51 as I recall) as I dug out the cord, she told me she didn't need to plug it in, they would just warranty the unit. Apparently there was a run of them that have this same issue and they just replace them.
