s9 autoset pressure ranges

Post by dshel17 » Mon Oct 11, 2010 6:42 pm

I have slowly taken control of my therapy and have seen better results. I do have a question on autoset maximum and minimum pressures. If the machine compensates for your apneas why do I need a maximum and minimum pressures? Wouldnt it be best to set it from say 1-20 and let the machine decide? I have slowly widened the pressure range and it seems like the machine almost always stays at the maximum thru the night when i check it with the software the next morning. I currently have it set at a maximum of 16 with 0 leak and it seems like the AHI number stays below 5. Why not try 17 for the high? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

What kind of events are you having? Centrals, obstructives, hypos?

Higher pressures induce central apneas in some people. If you weren't titrated to high pressures, then it's possible that you might induce centrals -- that's why you should increase pressure very slowly checking your nightly data to see if centrals are occurring.
