Remstar Auto w/ C-Flex-- Auto On doesn't work anymore???
Anyone have this happen? I used to be able to put my mask on and after three breaths the machine would automatically go on--not anymore?
Any ideas as to why this would happen?
My husband also notices that I am snoring with my mask on??
What gives?

what are your current settings? pressure range? c-flex on? c-flex setting?
I'm no expert, but if you're snoring with the mask on you may be either mouth breathing OR your lowest pressure is set too low and is allowing you to snore. It may then react by increasing the pressure, BUT you may be able to simply raise teh lower pressure so the snoring doesn't happen. You have the software? Is it telling you what's happening?

This happens with my full face mask because of the mask's rebreathing port that stays open when the input line from the machine is at room pressure. This port is required on all full face mask to keep the user from suffocating when the machine goes off line because of a power failure. Without that port, the user would be breathing only exhailed air which is oxygen deprived, and before too long APNEA wouldn't be much of a problem. This room air breathing port is designed to keep the customers coming back for more.
If I use a nasal mask, which none that I know about have this always open port unless there is pressure requirement, the machine gets the breathing signal from the pressure change that is generated by breathing into the nasal mask.
So, if you are you using a Full-Face mask then you'll be stuck with pushing the ON button. Does this help?

To eliminate possible mask problems regarding your autostart problem: Disconnect the CPAP tubing from the mask, place mouth over end of tubing and do several blow/sucks. If the machine starts, you have a mask problem.

Okay I've cleaned my filters, taken the mask off and blown into the hose and the results: I'm not sure.
I downloaded my information and it shows that the machine works at the lowest pressure for a few minutes and then stops?!?
Could my card be bad? Could the recording mechanisms be bad?
I wake up and the machine is blowing.
What gives?

Your last explanation sure sounds like strange behavior. Have you tried unplugging the machine for a few minutes and then plugging it back in?
If there is a computer glitch, the power off cycle might reset the machine. If the card is faulty, I don't how to help with that issue other than to try a second card, or try to clear the card and reset it to yourself using the Encore Pro utilities.
Good luck!

I have tried unplugging machine, etc.
I have cleared the card. I'm going to try a new card tonight and see if that makes a difference.
The thing is my husband said he noticed I was snoring, kind of like Fred Flintstone and the mask was almost going up in the air, like a cartoon (not really but the thought is pretty funny). I wear the Activa.
I've been a CPAPer since January.

Heidi,
You might have to contact the DME supplier you got it from and get their opinion.
If you haven't been tweaking with the internal programming (and inadvertantly changed something that might be affecting this) and Roger's suggestion doesn't work, that would be my suggestion.
It doesn't sound like you're using the "ramp" feature, either.....which was one of my thoughts as to if it was permanently staying in the lowest ramp setting and not going up from there.
If it is internally programmed correctly (through the Provider Setup menu), it shouldn't make any difference if the card is in place or not.....it just won't record the data to the card.
Best wishes,
Den

[quote="Anonymous"]Have you cleaned/changed the filter lately?
Some months back, mine acted like it didn't want to do the auto-on thing and it finally got over it. I also blow into my FF mask a couple of times and that seems to help start it, too.
I assume you haven't changed any of the settings in the machine......
