or CPAP.

OK I'm new to all this. I am self diagnoses as having apnea. It seems pretty obvious to me.

Why do I need to spend $X,000 on a sleep study to tell me to set the machine to number 5. So much of medicine is trial and error anyway, why can't I just get a machine and give it a shot. I'm smart enough to know if there is any benefit or not.

I assume I would not get a script without a sleep study.

It seems like it would be as easy to buy something off ebay and experiment with it.

By the way I have no insurance to pay for this.

What is a good, cheaper, machine?

OK, educate me.

Thanks all.

How well do you know your family doc? Explain your symptoms. Your $ situation . Where you can get an autotitrating unit with software for about $600.

Ask for the Rx . Many of us have gone this route and are now happy hoseheads>

I may be nieve, but the fact is you technically have to have a scrpt to purchase a Cpap. As far as I know, you cant just go on ebay and buy something because they restrict them from being posted, but I guess people sneak them on. Just my .02
