Hello,
I am an old newbie! I tried cpap a year or so ago and hated it. Then I tried the oral appliance (TAP) and it worked somewhat. After several bouts of afib, moderately high blood pressure, and surgery to prevent GERD, I decided that cpap was worth the trouble and bought a machine.....
My question is: do I have to have the data card inserted for the S8 Autoset II to record a month's worth of data for my sleep doc or do I just need to insert it at the end of the month and download the data? Ok. that was 2 questions ! Thanks in advance!
Recording data
Re: Recording data
It has to be there all the time (except when you remove it to download). One thing I think I should tell you is that 99% of the time the doctors don't look at the data that matters, i.e. the stats of your sleep experience. All they want are the compliance hours (for the insce. co's I guess) so it really would be smart of you to get the software, card reader, USB cable, etc. and do your own check-ups as most of us have done for years. That way if you feel not so hot on a given day, you can look at the read outs and get an idea what might be the problem.
Re: Recording data
I use an S8 Elite and my partner uses an S8 Autoset II.
The S8 machines accumulate data internally, up to 180 days worth of summary data and the last 5 days (Elite) or 4 days (Autoset II) worth of detailed data. When the card is inserted, the screen will display "Card inserted" (or something like that, sorry, I'm too lazy to get up and stick the card in right now) and all the internally stored data is copied automatically onto the card. When the copy is complete, the screen will display "Copy Complete" (or something like that).
Some machines require that the card be continuously in the machine to collect data, but not the Resmed S8s.

Re: Recording data
Yep, and that was a DISTINCT PLUS for the wonderful S8s (and S8 IIs). WHY Resmed has opted to go w/having to have the card inserted continuously to get data w/their S9s is a mystery to me. I like the S8 method so much better. Its just a matter of a larger memory chip in the PAP, isn't it?
