New settings

Post by hotrod27 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 6:42 am

I have been on bi-pap since 2001. I recently switched doctors and requested a new study. My new doctor has switched my settings from 13/22 to cpap of 11. I am not really sleeping any better? but not any worse? I also switched from an ultra mirage to nasal pillows. I like those. I just went in to check the info on my equipment to register for this site, and discovered my pillows are upside down! They are \/ instead of /\. I don't know when I did this. Maybe that is the problem? My new test was 2 months ago. I slept great for two nights and then back to how it was. When they sent me home they had me set at 9/12 but then called and changed it to 11 a couple days later. I have tried changing it back, but it didn't help. My machine does not have software. I own it. I am approved to get a new one from my insurance just never have. The doc suggested a c-flex. Ideas?

Do you have a copy of your sleep study? Why did this doctor change you from Bi-Pap to CPAP? What does your RX say?

Sounds like you need a machine gives you data--Leaks, AHI, AI (obstructive and central apneas), and HI. Do some reading here, to find people's preferences.

I don't have a copy of my study. She said constant 11 is all I need. My new script says 11.

Call your doc's office and request a copy, it should be 5-8 pages long. And, while you're at it, ask for a copy of your prescription. You are entitled to both, and they are good to have in your possession.
When you get your sleep study report, you can post it here. I'm fairly new at this, but I'm sure there are also other people here who will question why the doc recommended what he/she did. There are lots of people here who may be able to help you understand what's going on.

The questions I have are -

How do you feel at 11cm? Any troubles exhaling?

Do you know why you were on a BiPap?

No trouble exhaling. My settings for 8 years or so was bi-pap 13 / 22. I really can't tell the difference between that and this. I know that sounds crazy, but it is the truth. I sleep ok but not as good as it used to be. When I first went on bi-pap I slept so well that I wouldn't move all night. Now I wake up several times a night and can easily doze off when I get home from work.
