Mask Sizing

Post by snorlox » Thu Jan 20, 2005 11:52 am

I'm using the Resmed Activa mask I got from Apria. Still having problems with comfort. It really hurts around my nose after 3 to 4 hours and wakes me up. Ive got it adjusted as loose as I can without leaks, but to no avail.

It feels like when the mask seal inflates it irritates the sides of my nose. kinda like putting a rubber band around it!! Can these masks be ordered in differnt sizes? I thought that getting a wider one might keep the seal from inflating around my nostrils.

Any suggestions???javascript:emoticon('')

Thanks

Britt,

What size cushion do you have? Sounds like the one you have is too small. You may have a shallow cushion that does not have a large enough "cut out" at the bridge of your nose. See if your DME has additional sizes for you to try on. The different cushion sizes will fit your same mask. If you don't have any luck with them let us know.

Hello Snorlox,
You can replace the cushion . Part #s are: Shallow 60119, Standard 60177, Large 60118. They cost about $43 at cpapplus.com but much less than a new mask. cpap.com can get them also.
Google resmed activa parts to see a picture.
Cheers,

Chris

hello there,
you have a seal thats not the right size. i suffered a very simalar thing, sore bleeding bridge of the nose, sores on my cheeks below my eyes. i went back to see my technition and he watched how i put it on, then he said its not you, i think you perhaps need a bigger seal (inner mask as i call it). i tell you it is now wonderfull & comfi,
some people told me to loosen the straps, but all that did was cause air leeks, i went on for 18 days like this. my technition also gave me some duo-derm to put on, its wonderfull stuff. paul originally told me about it & i had something very simalar but transparent & much thinner. this is brilliant, go back to see your technition & he should be able to sort things for you
hope you get it sorted, but if you have trouble theres some wonderfull people on here to advise you take care, jean
