Tonights My First Night

Post by Goldpawn » Mon Nov 21, 2005 5:04 pm

Tonights my first nite using my machine, its set on 5cm, dont quite know what to expect. I'm a little nervous and have some questions about why I have to use a CPAP.

You are very lucky to have such a low pressure, I think.

The pressure has no relationship to how bad your apnea is.

It is only how much pressure it takes to open your throat.

With a low pressure you will not have that exhale problem that so many of us have at higher pressure.

The mask is the key. Comfort the most important thing to get you going and staying on pap.

Goldpawn,

You'll be fine. Don't base too much on this first night. It will take some time to adjust to this new experience. I agree with Martini Lover. The mask is key. You are lucky to have such a low pressure as this may minimize any mask leaks and help you tolerate the pressure while learning to sleep on CPAP.

Take care and let us know how it goes.

Do not give up. It took me about 2 weeks of adjusting the mask until I got it right. Fortunately, I found this site and was able to ask a ton of questions. Many people have not been so lucky and have fought it for months. If at first, it is not working, come back here and ask some questions. It will get solved soon enough.[/b]
