Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
Pre-cpap I could easily sleep 12 hours at a stretch, given the opportunity, with opportunity being defined as any weekend. After sleeping 12 hours I could still nap for an hour or two in the afternoon, and I was still tired all the time. When I first started therapy, I apparently had a pretty huge sleep debt, and continued sleeping 12 hours a night on weekends for about 6 weeks. Since then, I've tapered off to 7 hours on weeknights and 8 to 9 on weekends, with no naps.

Yes, me. I used to sleep up to 12 hours a night before BiPap. Even after starting it I still slept a lot more than I do now. I had a lot of sleep debt. Now I can't sleep longer than 7.5 hours, even if I want to. It took several months to get to that point, though.CAsleep wrote:I am the 10+. Surprised I'm the only one so far....but not really, because I look around in my life and don't know anyone else that sleeps as much as me. Even after 10-13 hours, I get out of bed very reluctantly (still sleepy).
Anyone here USED to sleep 10+ hours every night, before CPAP, and it got better? Still hasn't gotten better for me yet, so we're not sure exactly what the cause is. It is extremely frustrating.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I use to wake constantly through the night so 10 hours was easy. Now (after APAP) I sleep around 8 hours but I still often need a nap. Not like before though where I couldn't stay awake through a 30 minute meeting at work.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I picked 6 because I work rotating shift work 2 ea 12 hour days then 2 ea 12 hour nights. After the work rotation i get 4 days off on those days i average 7 hours plus. I nap on my lunch hour at work on the days off i dont need one normally.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
If I get 7 hours, I feel fantastic....I get 6 mostly to get up early for work and feel like i could use a little nappy after lunch.
Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I goofed and voted before reading the post, so I voted for both 8 and 9 hours. I have been using apap for about 3 weeks now, and am sleeping through the night much better than before. However, I'm still exhausted, and hate getting up in the morning. I often wonder just how long I would sleep if I had the opportunity to sleep in. It feels like I could sleep for days.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I am in my second month of cpap. I am not adjusting well. I usually get between 3 and 6 hours of sleep, all broken up and unsettled. It's driving me crazy. I think I have turned the corner though. Tonight's sleep will tell me if I have indeed gotten past the hurdle. *fingers crossed*
Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
And me too. 12 hours was not uncommon but unfortunately I would only get 5 or 6 hours due to the need to get up for work (and the DSPS). Now I'm at about 9 hours. The CPAP and the hypothyroid meds helped me equally. Not eating 4+ hours before bedtime improves my quality of sleep and reduces the amount of sleep I need. I would like to be able to sleep only 7 hours!Jaylee wrote:Yes, me. I used to sleep up to 12 hours a night before BiPap. Even after starting it I still slept a lot more than I do now. 6 hours (4 sleep cycles FB natural wake)(probably at astronomical dawn). PAP neither utilized nor warranted.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
Since starting CPAP about 2 hours actual sleep when using the machine (but I often wear it 4-7 hours while trying to get to sleep) and about 3 hours after I take it off when I can't stand it anymore. Before CPAP, around 6-8 hours.
As for naps, I try and stay awake no matter how sleepy I am as part of the hygenie retraining program my sleep doc told me to do. Right now I am so tired I can barely function and don't dare to get behind a wheel of a car even for short distances.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
6 hours is an average (actually closer to 6.25).
I need about an hour/night less sleep since beginning xpap 6 years ago, so I reclaimed at least an hour per day.<P>
No naps (well, okay, very very rarely).
I'm interested in how many folks hereabouts also need significantly less sleep since beginning xpap therapy.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I still feel best with near 8 hours of sleep. If left alone (no dogs, cats or hungry birds) I will get nearly 8 hours but I am rarely left alone. At least now when I do get less hours of sleep I don't feel like the bus ran over me twice.
Got 6 hours last night. Ill before going to bed and ill today...so both lack of hours of sleep and feeling the vertigo stuff contributed to feeling less than stellar today.
I did notice that when I started bilevel machine that my time asleep (if left alone) did increase on average by 45 minutes when compared to long term prior data. That 45 minutes makes a huge difference to me. 7 hours and I am okay but near 8 hours and I am hugely better.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I get about 6 hours a night, but do a lot of tossing and turning due to back pain, so while I feel way better and not falling down from exhaustion, I am still not feeling well rested. I am trying to zero in on my various problems and I am thankful for my treatment and help here on the site!!!

I usually sleep 8.5 to 9 hours a night but am often awakened by leaking mask which makes most embarrassing noises
Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
On APAP I get on average of 5-6 hours per night, but am trying to get 6-7 hours. On some nights when we get earth tremors, then it's much less...
