Climateline hose and S9 Heated Humidifier

Post by Sanadol » Tue Sep 14, 2010 8:05 am

My Climateline hose suddenly stopped working after 3 days of use. I had to send it back to cpap.com.
I got a call from them yesterday saying that I need to send my my humidifier too.
The guy i spoke with told me that Resmed got back to them that the "heated tube failure. replace tube." error is caused by the humidifier and replacing the hose alone will only lead to more climateline tube failures.
Has anyone heard of any type of humidifier recall from Resmed or 'am just the only one with the hose "frying" humidfier

My climateline hose died after 1 week of use. I got a replacement quickly from CPAP.com (where I bought the S9 etc) and have used it for a month without tube failure. They didn't ask me to send back the humidifier.
HMMMM maybe I should call them.

I'm curious. How do you know the tube has failed? I've had my S9 with the Climateline hose for about two weeks now. Right now I have the hose set to 80 degrees and the house set to 68.

My S9 displayed "heated tube failure. replace tube.".
Called cpap.com where i got it from they asked me to send it back in and now they are asking me to send back in my humidifier.

I guess that would be an indication I thought maybe you noticed some rainout. It is still pretty warm where I live in South Carolina so I don't know if I'd notice a failure without the machine telling me.

Well kiddos,
I didn't call and ask and guess what. I woke up again this morning to the S9 being quiet, waaayyyy to quiet. Yup you guessed it. "heated hose failure".
A quick call to CPAP.com and my worst fears came true. Now I not only have to pay for shipping to send back the humidifier AND the hose. My humidifier was not on the list of "problem" humidifiers. ResMed does it again!!!!
I'll have to drag out my PR System one that I don't quite own yet.

DME update on PR System one. Aetna is supposed to buy out but Rotech can't get the billing straight. They billed rental for the month they billed a buyout and Aetna didn't "buy it"!!!. Aetna did pay for the humidifier but not the cpap unit. After 2 hours worth of phone calls and multiple return calls they are still trying to settle it. I wonder if it will be before the 5 years are up. According to Rotech they billed on 8/6 and p/u equipment on 8/7. I did ask the Rotech billing office what I had been using the night before and was in my trunk then, if I no longer had the equipment. "OH, I think we need to rebill.." "you think?"

Thanks Jdm
I read the post and had been doing all the right things. I'm hoping it doesn't take that long for the turn around. I really do like the climateline hose when it's working.

Yep, I got that error after 2 or 3 days of use.

My DME is going to exchange the tube and humidifier. Hopefully it does not happen again, but I'm worried that it will.
