is it OK to plug the phone (data) jack of 420E

There was a discussion on 420E sucking air through phone jack: viewtopic.php?t=29805

I am planning to plug the data jack, to prevent it from sucking air through the jack. I am using fine filter and the normal porous filter.

Just curious, does it suck air through jack for cooling (in which case would leave it open) or comes out through hose to mask?

I kept mine plugged with a short telephone cable -- I don't think I don't the air blows in for cooling. My machine worked fine, did not heat up, no problem.
