S9 or S9 Auto set..whats in the box?

Post by msradar65 » Mon Sep 06, 2010 8:28 pm

I should be hearing from DME company tomorrow. I want the S9 autoset..but will settle for S9. I have already been told S9 is all they use....so what comes in the box?

What should I be asking for?

Swift LT medium was the mask that fit the best during the titration study.
Need suggestions for good second mask to use if nose is stopped up. Must have no forehead gear due to previous facial injury.

This is my want list
S9 autoset
humidifier
heated hose
extra filters (very old dusty house, my fan has to be cleaned weekly)
software
card reader
Pulse oximeter

I hope this comes with a travel bag or something to carry all this stuff in.
Diagnosed 08/31/10. Titration 9/02/10. Started CPAP 11/01/10. Auto mode 10-15cm. Alternate mask GoLife for her. Back up mask Full-life full face w/Pad-a-cheek mask liner. Comtec CMS F50 wrist pulse oximeter. Sobakawa Cloud Pillow, Sleepyhead software

I believe you will likely have to fund the Pulse Oximeter yourself. Am not aware of too many ins schemes that fund them.
The integrated Pulse Oximeter that fits the S9 is so expensive as to be not worth it (you have to obtain 3 items: S9 adapter
+ xPod + SpO2 finger probe).

Good luck - all else is reasonable.

DSM
xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)

Below is what Resmed typically ships "in the box", based on my own experience (but I'm not in the US) and numerous user reports from other users (who are in the US)... what a DME might deliver to you is something else again.

These are in the box along with a power supply, instructions and few other small things.

According to user reports that have been posted here numerous times, in the US only a standard lightweight hose is normally delivered.

I don't think there were extra filters in the box, but don't recall exactly.

None of these are in the box.

A travel bag is provided.

Cheers,

Bill

I switched DMEs after my original one would not budge on my request for a S9 autoset. When I called to have my records transferred to the new DME they were suddenly saying that they could have got the autoset for me after all--a little too late. I don't know your relationship with your DME but, it might be worth talking to them and explaining that you might be considering switching providers if they can't provide the machine you want (provided that you have a script for a APAP, of course).

The humidifier and heated hose are addons so it doesn't come standard. Standard hose is charged seperately.

Added filters are extra. Consider buying them on-line. My DME billed my insurance seperately for the original filter.

Software is an extra if you can find a DME who will sell it to you. Getting a prescription for it might help but don't bet on it. Ask on this web site and you will be told where to get it for free.

You no longer need the special ResMed card reader. Buy a generic card reader if you do not already have one.

Pulse Oximeter is definately an extra.

I would expect that they probably intend to give you a package that includes the S9, standard hose, one filter, and a mask. If your prescription lists the heated humidifier then you will also get the heated humidifier.

I got a an S9 and humidifier a week ago. It came with a slimline hose (although my DME said I could have the heated hose if I wanted it), a travel bag which is nice (looks like a laptop bag), one filter, and power cord. The one thing I'm sorry I didn't do was ask for the box it came in. The unit was removed from the box while I was in the training room at my DME but the RT packed the unit in the travel bag for me after training. I would have liked to have the box in case I decide to sell the machine at some point and upgrade.

I think the box is not that important...

As long as you keep the Bag in good shape you should be fine.

You should get the climate hose. If you use the humidifier alot you might get water in the hose (rain out), that is where the ClimateLine would be handy.

You could always as the DME to provide a box, if they are issuing alot of the S9's out alot they should have no problem finding a box for you.

if you buy the nicer filters for that machine they are easily gently washed and dabbed dry so you can wash
them once a week, I do..

My machine was a trade back.

I think if it got just that, it would have been the machine, some regular cheap tubing, cheap filters, and the sd card.

you can download the rescan 3.11 on the internet.

The humidfier is seperate unless that is also purchased by insurance thru prescription..

I then bought seperatly out of pocket the climate line tubing, and the slim line tubing, and the special filters.

There is also a different humidifier tank you can get that opens up to clean, but it doesnt come with the unit.

I was told the oximeter and software that actually GOES with that s nine autoset cost eight hundred dollars, so
I bought a wrist oxi from kevin cooper out of pocket..

The tubing that were produced for these machines orignally had some problems.. like cracking at the ends so lots of people put
rescue tape on them, I think they must have fixed it by now I hope, but check your tubes frequently during the warrenty period..
Which reminds me, I cant get my ramp to work, so I will be looking into that..

good luck!

With my S9 received the travel case, CPAP and humidifier, 1 slimline tubing, filter, instruction manual. Depending on vendor you may receive extras from them but not Resmed

When my S9 was delivered:

S9 Autoset
H5i Humidifier
Non-Cleanable tube.
SlimLine
Carry Case
Mask of choice.

Since then I read my Dr's. script and had them delivery the Climateline hose, and extra filters that were listed on the script and they did not deliver.

Also working on the cleanable H5i tub versus the sealed one. I found it online fr $35 so I am working on getting the DME to provide it.
